The one big reason I like energy weapons

Post » Thu Jun 16, 2011 5:00 am

is probably because of the laser weaponry and the link I do with Warhammer 40k's Imperial guard lasgun.
I don't know I just really like that weak fast firing laser, but I also like the fact that the ammo is easy to recycle, it has few choices but are yet fill most roles.

anyways why do you like energy weapons?

Energy Weapons are okay. I just prefer Guns. Something about Energy Weapons just seems.......slow. :turtle: like a plasma turtle.

Why do I love energy weapons? Let me count the ways! Zap! Zorch! Sphoosh! Fizz! Whirr-bzzt! FOOM! WOOSH! FzCRACK! Sizzle! Pop! mmmmmmMMMMMplu! And all the other wonderful sounds they make!

I love the way they vaporize my enemy's armor, flesh, and bone, unlike a gun, which leaves this messy pile of guts and blood all over. Do you know how long it takes to clean that out of the rug? (I'll admit, using plasma forces me to replace the rug, and some of the floor. But it's worth it for the glow!)

I love using glowing plasma-goo leftovers to blaze a trail behind me in the dark, so I can always see where I've been already.

I love not having to carry a different pile of ammo for every weapon, and being able to smoothly convert all my ammo from one type to the other, to fill in supply gaps.

Did I mention the noises? I really love the noises!

I'd like to mention the noises again.

Just one more time about the noises.

I love the versatility of the weapons, especially the Laser Rifle, which smoothly acts as a perfect battle rifle. Good range, high accuracy, good capacity, excellent rate of fire, solid firepower.

I love the generally high rate of fire for them.

I love the glowy bits on them.

I love that the BoS doesn't think people can be trusted with them. (It is true that in F1/F2/Tactics, they were generally very powerful in comparison to other weapons, especially on a shot-for-shot comparison...so the BoS has a point.)

I love setting enemies on fire.

I love dreaming of the day that I can get my mitts on a plasma-flamer!

I love only getting shot at by them rarely, unlike guns, which seem to have a grudge against me.

And one final hurrah for the noises!

I'm a sniper mainly but some energy weapons are pretty functional as snipers (Holorife and YCS) The Holofirle is good in close combat too, as is the Laser RCW (although I never use it). They'tre generally just more powerful and versitile.

I like them because of the convertable ammo and how there's only 3 types of ammo to obtain. I love the Q-35 Matter Modulater and the AER14 Prototype, along with the Tri-beam and Multipass. I tend to use lasers when I have BOS armor on and plasma when I have Enclave armor on. Although I prefer lasers.

The ammo truly is a big factor, just how easy it is to make and recycle (I even took the vigilant recycler perk, though I do somewhat regret...)

Never regret that perk! Just think of it as kills that cost you no caps to do! Lots of kills. With wonderful noises, and bright flashes of light. ;)

The coolest thing is when you give an incinerator to either Arcade or Veronica. They can fire that thing over huge distances with good accuracy.

When my Tri-Beam Laser Rifle hits it's maximum critical (which is often) only the toughest NPC's are not reduced to piles of dust. I Set Lasers for Fun so I Know Discintegrations. I am the Laser Commander.

Does Laser Commander know that lasers create no radioactivity whatsoever? Hot dust, yes. Radioactive? Nyet.

I LOVED them in Fallout 3 but in New Vegas is seems they were nerfed in the face. But I still like 'em because they're: Fun,cool, shiny, rare/exotic, lethal, and they cause disintegrations and liquefactions and finally I am a huge fan of the Power Armor and Energy Weapon combo.

Energy weapons are ok, but since I like to devour my enemies I often stay away from them. Can't eat ash or goo

Guns are still based on the incident where caveman Grunk threw a rock at caveman Arg, guns just throw smaller stuff faster :P I like something more sophisticated.

And for PC version owners, a very good reason to use energy weapons: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1196739-betaeve-from-fo3-officially-comes-to-new-vegas/

My main reason is the vastly easier ammo handling, especially when it comes to recycling the used rounds. No need for lead, powder, or primers, and only three types to deal with.

While I don't use it often, I really like how the Laser Rifle can be adapted for multiple roles. Need a shotgun? Add the beam splitter. Need a Sniper Rifle? Add the scope. Need something for heavier targets? Add the focus optics.

Then there's the Gatling Laser. Easily my favorite weapon in the game, this thing can mow down anything I come across when modded-out and loaded with MC ECPs. After I get one from the BoS, my foes get a demonstration of why they confiscated it in the first place. :chaos: :gun:

I'm also a big fan of Power Armor, and for me Energy Weapons are the only ones that really go with it. I do have a Heavy Infantry character who wears T-51b while using a LMG and Grenade Launcher; the armor's coloration makes it work, but I do sometimes wish I had a Minigun instead of the LMG when I play him (closest conventional arms gets to the Gatling Laser).
