How long did you spend on the ending of Dead Money

Post » Fri Jun 17, 2011 9:22 am

At the end(stop if you have not played) with the gold bars how long did you spend on trying to get them out and how many did you end up leaving with? I have around 7 or 8 and spent like 4 or 8 hours or something around that trying to get them >_< I was on a mission to take them with me.

Although I did not get to that part yet, I know the some of the ending and about the gold bars, so no spoils.
So technically, it took me-error! Error! No data has been found-hours to get past the ending.

I left with all 37 gold bars. They are now piled on my bed at the Lucky 38. I love the smell of pure gold in the morning. :celebration:

Can you believe I just found out how to drop items on FNV on PC? It would have been a nightmare for me to carry all of those gold bars, because they would have been stuck there. x33333

I noticed that it would svck to try to sell those, because the closest you can get to the full price of the gold bars, would be at that gun guy at McCarren. But I prefer to use them as ornaments to say "I was at the Sierra Madre!!" :celebration:

I only got two from each playthrough. I sold one to (a confused) Vendortron and kept the other in a Sunset Sarsaparilla Vending Machine in my Lucky 38 suite.

I could not lie to God after his sacrifice so I had to let go... I walked out with two, and I never plan on selling either of them. They are reminders of my past, and a valuable lesson for my future.

It was a nice challenge getting them all but the real pain was selling them.

I made it out with all of them. Not quite sure what happened to them afterwords though. I think I put them down somewhere and forgot about them. The real treasure of the Sierra Madre was its vending machine anyway. Well, that and its guns.

i got all of them on my 2nd try. put on the Assassin suit, read a La Fantoma, sneak out behind those electrical things, stay behind it as he walks past you, then sneak out the door before he realizes you aren't in the vault. hilariously easy actually. had no points in sneak either

It's kind of sad, but I spent on one game very close to 45 minutes trying to get the gold bars to drop near the force field so I could grab them from the other side.

I've tried the method of setting explosives to get blown through the field, but it worked only once out of three different runs through so I just don't bother now.

At last count, I have been through Dead Money exactly twelve times and I must (it's a compulsion!) get all 37 bars regardless of the time it takes me to do so. And what goes through my head every single time is (irony): "I've got to do this simply because they (devs) don't want me to and they tried so hard to prevent me."

edit: I've never sold or traded a single gold bar. I keep them just because.
