I'm honestly sick of waiting now...

Post » Fri Jun 17, 2011 4:13 pm

Topic.

Alright, lastnight and the past couple of days I decided "Hey, let's go play some Halo: Reach!'. That my friends was a HORRID idea in itself. The game still plays like garbage seeing as Bungie refuses to even fix it, and NOW we basically have to wait until November! (Which that's not even a certainty that we WILL get a TU for this game?)

Anyway, back on topic... honestly i'm sick of all the BS that SD and Bethesda keep pulling on us about the DLC's date. Why? Because of all the Game Dev's i've followed before (DICE, Bungie, Ubisoft, EPIC Games, so on so forth), give EXACT dates as to when an Update, or DLC for that matter... is going to be released into the public's hands?

Splash Damage is honestly the FIRST dev i've begun to follow, that can't simply do this for some reason? I don't understand, I mean I SLIGHTLY understand because they just got hacked (which ALSO shoved the release date of the next Fallout: New Vegas add-on), but you guys should've been prepared like EVERYONE else. Hell, all those dev's i've listed above never got hacked when I played their games?

And, on Twitter, we FINALLY get some sort of update towards anything...

TeddiRevolution
@brinkgame When can we expect the DLC SplashDamage? There are loyal fans waiting anxiously and we don't have a date yet!

SD's response?:

brinkgame
@TeddiRevolution as soon as we've got the date, we'll let everyone know. Thanks!

... really? First you say "end of the month", then you switch off to this? I honestly don't EVEN get why you said June if it's (basically) now going to probably come in JULY?! Saying something is going to come out in June, at least to me... meant that it was going to be around the BEGINNING or MIDDLE of June? That obviously hasn't happened. You had the hopes of everyone in a neuce, and just kicked the chair from underneath us..

So, which is it SD? June, July? 2020?

I am going to speak for the majority that i'm sure you all are getting anxious and annoyed about this entire matter. Discuss.

Can I just say, while I completely understand your frustration, that your argument is self defeating.

You argue you want more specific dates, but the more specific they get the more backlash there is when/if it's delayed - as evident in the rest of your post. This is why the best response is usually not to say anything about when it's coming out until the last minute, because people just get hyped up about it.

All in all, while I have no reason to argue with you at all, this thread isn't going to change anything.

They shoudnt have said June then. (They did officially say June, right?)

At any rate, SD and Bethesda better pray dat they can release it before July starts or what's left of the community will dwindle to ...... whatever is it you call ppl who are still loyal to a game after being repeatedly shoved with a corn cob.

We're only halfway through June.
They said it would be available at the end of the month.
What's the issue again?

I deal with this BS every day. I make fine cabinetry and furniture. Full custom. Any wood, any finish you can come up with I'll match.
Why people call 7-10 days after ordering, wanting their stuff I'll never know. I tell them 6-8 weeks and they call in 1 crying.

Sound familiar?

First they said "June"... that's it no day, didn't say the beginning, middle OR end of the month.

THEN, they finally take a response on Twitter saying the game is coming and I quote: "later this month"

Honestly in my eyes, that's false advertising. What's the point of EVEN saying June in the first place, if you're going to release it at the END of June? You might as well have said July then?! That's what i'm trying to get my point across about...

And, now Lulzsec wants to ruin everything for all of us trying to support SD and get them going! Which now has delayed not only Brink's DLC, but Fallout:NV's as well. Plus, there are SO many topics on these forums of people saying the they "rushed" the game. And that they didn't release the final product as what we the CONSUMERS saw in the trailers/video docs, basically an entirely dumbed down version, ESPECIALLY visuals/graphics. (Trust me I'm a gameplay > graphics guy, anyday of the year)

Just going back and watching those videos, to me, just implys even MORE false advertising. I understand the game is in development, and things change over time and it won't always look like that when actually released. But MAN the GFX of Brink BEFORE it got released were phenomenal, SMART moved so fluently and smooth it was a dream come true.

Now, with SMART when you're jumping over a ledge, or onto a railing from a ledge while holding the button down you just hear constant, HIGHLY annoying "ticking" noises. Game never did that in your trailers previous? I don't get where and why, but something obviously happened that extremely dumbed the game down.

And, now almost 2 months after release, we finally got the lag fixed (which there's a thing called a demo/beta SD, you're not perfect). Major developers all had betas/demos for their game and when it got released it didn't have all these latency issues and lag/rubberbanding issues. Now, don't bash me cause I understand this is SD's 1st major title and all... but wouldn't you WANT to get everything right before releasing it into the world and HIGHLY dissapoint alot of people? Forcing alot of ppl to go trade in there copies because they can't tolerate it anymore?

Do game developers even know that this country is in economic crisis? And that they expect we can always pay for games, on release date, everytime? That's your reason SO many people even left in the first place, right there. I'm sure most of the people who gave their copies up had bills/rent other things more important to pay on. And you just ruined your chances with those said consumers of ever buying a game from you again? Way to go...

(Sorry that was so long, but some points just had to be made...)

I see where you're coming from dude, i think this game has got potential, it needs alot more than a DLC in my opinion.
But i can wait for the DLC GoW 2, Halo and CoD cure my frustration.

Lobbies
Game Modes(CTF, S&D etc)
Increased level cap (more than 24)
More maps (more than 2)
Items
Lag

If they did all that i could see the game getting more popular, but if the DLC isn't worth the wait when released i can see Brink jut dying even more.

I think your math's off there.
Game released on May 10th. It is now June 16th. So that makes 1 month and 6 days.

You get my point, don't be an ass...

@kidvarley, if the cap EVER goes past 24, I may quit this game. Why? Because then everyone will have super-double class characters with almost every ability possible. Sit and think about that for a second and you will realize that 24 is ENOUGH for us to build a character on, anymore would be extreme overkill.

Trust me..

So, if I'm understanding correctly, you have officially changed the days in a month? Because, from where I am, the last 10 days (btw, that's the end of the month) of June is still June. No matter how you look at it, it is never going to be July. Opinion or not. It would be false advertising if A. They said it would be released at a specific point before this very moment and they didn't release it, or B. If on July 1st, we still don't have the DLC. But until either of those happens, nothing happens.

So seriously, take the stick out of your behind and just relax. Enjoy a game. I don't want to come off rude, but honestly, you are acting just as rude. You have no backing on this. Your only argument is that the end of June is technically July, which it clear as day is not. Take a breather and just relax. If you don't feel like waiting, then sell the game. No one is making you stay.

Well, I was going to apologize for the rant earlier, but now that you've surcome to acting like that IDK...

Just saying I really don't have anything to play lately and it's kind've annoying. Don't really have much games because i've sold most of them for more important things currently going on in my life. But I'm not selling BRINK anytime soon... trust me.

I love the game itself, but now it's been a month and i'm sure by the time the DLC comes out and is playable it'll be near 2 months since release. Call me impatient I guess. I just have high hopes for this game and want it to offspring a trilogy/series of more games!

I've played BRINK, know it love it... just kind've getting bored. Plus, I have some really nice ideas for some Characters when the DLC does in-fact come out. My brain cannot contain them no longer... :D

The only time i'll be connecting my xbox to live anytime soon will to be getting DLC. It's getting extremely annoying to have to wait this long.

Btw, Halo Reach? Halo 3 was sooooo much better.

Plus, at the same time, http://brinkvault.com/2011/05/first-dlc-will-be-free/, they only ever said it was planned for June. This means nothing.

Good lord... You. Will. Not. Get. Game. Modes! Jeez!!! This isn't your TDM type of game!!!

Increase the cap further and you have people running around with multiple level 5 abilities and multiple maxed out characters with two (And with a +24 level cap) or maybe three character jobs!

Maps are fine. I think that it takes a while to design a map that is fully interactive, and has many routes to the objectives.

Items are okay, but I don't think they are necessary...

Lag? What lag?
