A good gaming keyboard?

Can somebody help me pick a good one? I'm having trouble finding it myself.

Logitech and Razer both make great keyboards and mice.

I looked it up on NewEgg, and a lot of people said it wasn't too reliable.

How long have you had it?

I was looking at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823114012&cm_re=razer_blackwidow_ultimate-_-23-114-012-_-Product. Would you recommend it?

I've had nothing but good experiences with the Logitech G series of keyboards. I've been using my current G11 for ~2 years now.

What are you looking for in a "gaming keyboard"? Actual physical hot keys, or key remapping?

A normal keyboard should work just fine, which is why I'm asking.

http://www.daskeyboard.com/model-s-professional-silent/ with Cherry MX Brown switches. I prefer Filco keyboards, but Das are about the only good mechanical keyboards that I know of with decent availability.

I've never used that one, right now I have a generic Dell keyboard (my old G-15 broke after four years) and my Razer DeathAdder mouse.

Reviews say it's pretty good though, according to Newegg.

Indeed, assuming it not be wireless (nothing worse than having intermittent keyboard input in the middle of a fight causing you to die)

I've never saw the appeal of "gaming" keyboards. Aside from looking cool and maybe having a few extra buttons, standard ones work just fine for me.

I've been using this on for a while: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823201038

The keyboard I have is old, and I need a new one anyways. I figured I might as well get a good one (which is really what I meant by "gaming").

That one looks nice.

Thing about that one I like (besides being illuminated) is when the batteries die, all you have to do is plug it into your pc to recharge them. You can still use it while recharging too.

A good mechanical keyboard just feels so much better than your run-of-the-mill rubber dome board. Of course, I'm too cheap to spend $100+ so I've opted for a used http://www.overclock.net/attachments/computer-peripherals/82357d1221078265-unofficial-ibm-model-m-club-ibm-model-m-keyboard.jpg from my local Goodwill. :P

That's definitely a plus. Probably getting it.

Now, let this thread be keyboard discussion. :P

I've been using this one for 3 years with no problem and still love it:

I usually play with the lights off in my computer room, so the illuminated keys are great. You can find them for cheaper than the site I linked has them, that site was the only one with decent pictures of the keyboard though.

Honestly, with keyboards, I highly recommend actually going to a brick and mortar store and picking one out from their selection. You get a much better sense of the size and the placement of keys and such. Pictures with a white backdrop don't give you that.

I personally like very small (but still full size) keyboards. I end up typing with the keyboard in my lap a fair amount, so I hate most of those huge keyboards.

If you're wondering, I use a LX 710 (it comes with a mouse in a bundle). It's old technology now, but the thing has seen me through over 4 years now. To be honest, I'm going to be pretty distressed when the poor thing kicks the bucket.

Black Widow Ultimate.

Its an excellent keyboard. Its a bit thick and it has 4 wire connections coming out of it but other than that its a great keyboard for what it is.

The best i've had was Logitech G11. It had everything just right, and with a very reasonable price too. Alas, the cord couldn't take constant moving of the keyboard and lost connection, and another alas is that keyboard is no longer manufactured. Currently i have a Microsoft Sidewinder X4. Pretty good too, but not as good as the G11.

Of course, I'm too cheap to spend $100+ so I've opted for a used http://www.overclock.net/attachments/computer-peripherals/82357d1221078265-unofficial-ibm-model-m-club-ibm-model-m-keyboard.jpg from my local Goodwill. :P

I have one of those as a back-up keyboard.
