Why does obsidian refuse to fix the game?

Post » Tue Jun 21, 2011 10:22 pm

I am posting here because it is quite obvious nobody reads the support section move it or lock it whatever im just posting this so hopefully the devs actually read it. The PS3 version is almost completely unplayable for me. The game drops to about 1 fps almost instantly after i start the game or it just flat out locks up all together. And not to mention that 1.05 completely disables all DLC. :brokencomputer: It really makes me sad too because the game itself is really fun but its so buggy. :cryvaultboy:

The actually do read the support section, the upcoming patch fixing most of what you're complainin about proves this.

EDIT - Though I admit, typing this I suspect you don't do much reading in the DLC General discussion? http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1201937-to-jason-bergman/ - http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1203361-to-jason-bergman-part-2/

Give the first a read and then see if you'll be singing the same tune. :whistling:

Sorry if I seem rude, just really irks me when people say they aren't making an effort when they so obviously are. :whistling:

They have fixed a lot of items and are fixing more in the next patch, I'm honestly sorry to the OP for still having so many issues but its one really bad case the game now functions fine for the majority, the same with the 1.05 patch to which there is a work around if its causing you issues. I'm on ps3 I get the very rare frame rate drop that usually clears up after a few seconds. The devs have for 99% of people fixed the game and are continuing to fix bugs and make it more stable, I understand this isn't the case for the OP but theres a misrepresentation of facts going on here.

PS3 svcks broski. XBOX 360 svcks. The only way to play games these days is on PC. Who the [censored] wants to play games on an inferior platform when you can play games on PC with far superior graphics and controls. As well as more frequent patches to fix issues, and add-ons for certain games that can't be used on xbox or playstation.

Classic console bashing, we all have to try and make ourselves feel superior somehow...

As per usual the only answer that can be given is: they're working on it. At least that's what they sat.

As a PS3 user who has played the DLC, I can confirm it works fine.

Others had the same issue as yourself and were instructed to delete anything FONV related from your "Game Data" folder. Boot up the game to download the latest patch, THEN download and install the DLC. If the dlc is installed before the patch, that is what causes the problem.

There is still however, the issue of DLC locales being mixed(e.g. Canadian Honest Hearts and US Mercenary Pack do not mix) but i believe that is being addressed in the upcoming patch.

Actually, building computers is very basic, it requires very little experience unlike older computers. So basic in fact that a little online research will get you far enough to build your own. A computer built yourself for only 500 bucks would greatly out-perform either console. It also doesn't take very long. Your looking at most 3 days once you've got the basics down. Hell, you could get one built for you for like 700 bucks that would absolutely crush either console. The only thing good about those two consoles is that some games were specifically only made for either console. Still... There's always emulation software to play games on either console on your computer. I don't condone this as this is illegal if you don't already own the game, but seriously, there's no reason to buy either console. I despise console fan-boys because they're ignorant. Nothing you can do on those pitiful consoles that you can't do on a PC.

I completely empathize with the OP. I had given up on another patch to fix broken Boone. Being upset with the devs is not the way I want to feel because I really do love the game but when they broke him in patch 1 and didn't fix him in patch 2 after I had been posting about it in the problems forum since December, along with many others...well, I was more than annoyed but I didn't want to keep complaining, even though I believe the posts about the problems did make a difference...finally. When I logged on today and saw the title with Jason Bergman's name in it in the DLC area, I went to read it and the broken Boone problem is mentioned as being fixed. Since I don't own any DLC though, I wouldn't have known about this because you don't go there because you don't want to be spoiled in case you do have the DLC some day...so it's perfectly understandable.

My hopes are high now and once this one problem is fixed that bugs me no end, I'll be a happy Courier again and can play on my PS3 again, not just my PC with a bugfix mod.

And, to make sure it was obvious, it would have helped to have a posting here about what was going on with Jason Bergman. People would feel better about the problems they're having just knowing that he was answering questions.

There is something else to consider... In time the game may still have bugs but the publisher is done with it. I know of a game where the studio patched known bugs and was prohibited from releasing their patch.
(Its not always the studio refusing to fix it.)

They are working hard at this, and have fixed a lot of stuff for a lot of people, the game was buggy because of the engine and the deadline, but they are still fixing things very rapidly.

It was an issue a few people had seemed like it was mostly on 360 but there were a few confirmed ps3 cases the patch disabled it, the fix was to delete both the patch and dlc repatch the game then install the dlc most blamed patching the game after having installed the dlc as the cause.
