What the $#%@

Post » Sat Jun 25, 2011 5:23 pm

So I load my save in the Novac hotel room, take about three steps toward the door and all the sudden I'm stopped by a Nightkin who want's to sell me wind brahmin. It goes on to tell me that it's "crazy with low prices" (which made me lol) and basically demanded all of my caps for said "wind brahmin". After I refused it attacked me and I had to put it down. Now I have the corpse of a dead nightkin in my room....

Is this some kind of random event that's supposed to occur inside of the room?

And since I'm posting this I figured I might as well ask another question rather than create another topic. Are there some merchants who don't restock their supplies and caps after the usual 3 day cooldown period? For example, the gun runner guy underneath the bridge at the 188 trading post. Or is this just a glitch?

Merchants restocking is a well known bug. Sometimes it can be overcome by saving in the cell with the merchant, exiting the game and then restarting and loading the save.

As for http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Wind-Brahmin_Wrangler, that's not supposed to occur anywhere near Novac. That's one helluva glitch you had there.

When it comes to the wind brahmin seller he's supposed to be by Brooks Tumbleweed Ranch but has a bug where if you encounter him and load a previous save he can show up where you happen to be http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Wind-Brahmin_Wrangler

As for the merchants, they restock every 4 days http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Merchants

I went to that ranch before, but nothing happened there. Maybe it followed me... kind of creepy. And I'll try that thing you mentioned with the merchants. Thanks.

I play on PC, and I think I've only encountered this nightkin once, in all my playthroughs. That encounter is bugged all to heck.

You've gotta walk around inside the pen a bit to get the Nightkin to appear, the trigger is kinda weird.

Noticed while merging mods, including a community patch, that it seems they forgot to flag merchant inventories with "respawns". And Knight Torres doesn't get improved inventory as she should after certain conditions. And Silver Rush never sells the Plasma Caster if you go there before level 20. Which isn't a problem since you gain levels at lightning speed in this game, and the gun is damn ugly :P

People have seen him all over the place (I have met him in Vault 3, Remnant Bunker, Wolfranch etc).......lets just say it isn't a good idea to make NPC walk when player can run

Some merchants don't have "respawn" flags in the GECK, this is true. I know for a fact Knight Torres doesn't. However, I believe I flagged her to respawn and she still didn't at some point. So it's definitely a bug.

He has his Stealth Boy on. You could get quite close without seeing him.
