A few things i would like to see in Lonesome Road

Post » Sat Jun 25, 2011 7:27 pm

So,after thinking a few days about it i decided to make this thread to show what have been speculating and want to see happening about the whole lonesome road/ulysses scenario:

Things i want to see happening:
Regarding ulysses:
Character development - I want him to have a good character development(and i believe it will happen),as lonesome road is supposedly the dlc that will cover our character personal story,i am expecting some very good story here

I also want good interaction, and ulysses to go to the Mojave after the dlc is completed, like, maybe he gives you a key to a hideout he uses in the MW as he trusts you a lot,i guess the devs can make it happen without breaking the blank slate if done right

Regarding the location:
more than anything,i want a settlement,a small town or community, with people that sells unique stuff and give you a few interesting sidequests, like point lookout, and what i was expecting new canaan would be like, and got extremely disapointed after we got a cheap excuse not to have it (destroyed by tribals - really? )
I want the lonesome road to have some survivalist feel, lots of destroyed places, full of raiders, that kind of stuff, would fit nicely with the name

Speculation:

I guess ulysses is not allied with any faction, this is based on the concept art image, and comments from DLC characters christine and joshua.

Reason 1: (NCR) If he was NCR he would not have helped Christine in Big MT.

Reason 2: (Caesar)If he was a legion spy,he would not be in big MT in the first place, and would not be doind random jobs as a courier.

Reason 3: (Enclave) Enclave is dead as a faction.

Notes:This is based wildly on speculation and i don't have any way to claim i am right,no hate please.

Lonesome road :

My theory in LS is very simple,i strongly believe it goes east into legion territory so we might see a bit more about them, however i do not have any ideia what the Divide is.

So,what do you think?Comment and share your own speculation :celebration:

The Divide is in California, near or a part of Death Valley, and is an issue for the NCR supply lines. Apparently, Lonesome Road is exactly as it sounds. Chris Avellone says it's a road with a start and end, but not one that we've seen before. I wouldn't be surprised to find some ruins and some illusive raiders that take refuge on the way to the Divide, and know the area well enough to survive the hazards. It's not going to be like Point Lookout and I seriously doubt a settlement.

I have a feeling that Ulysses has worked for the NCR and the Legion. For the Legion, he is a Frumentarii, and for the NCR, he could be a contractor or a high-ranking ranger (or the like). I don't know what he wants with you are what his goals would be though.

If everything happens in the dlc like this I cant even tell you how many playthroughs i will do on it. I really strongly agree on the Ulyesses coming back to the mojave , and I was pretty pissed with no new cannan , I still had hope even after it was said that new cannan was destroyed that I would be able to search through the ruins , so I hope that there is settlements, try to get Jason Bergman to read this , he may have an influence :tops:

Do you think it may be near the san andreas fault line?

Thanks! :foodndrink:
I was really mad about new canaan too,the fact that we didn't even get to see the ruins was way too disappointing. And about jason Bergman, well, who knows,if the topic gets some attention,he mght even post something here :tops:

To looloolooigotsomeapples:
Why do you doubt a settlement? Its a road,a settlement at the end of it would make sense ,and you can return after you complete the DLC,so there needs to be some interesting stuff to do.

Yeah the settlement thing is an idea because after you finish the dlc , and it lets you come back , you dont want there to be nothing , and I want to see a change in the settlement , like an after affect of the path you chose to follow.

I'm wondering how he will react to my characters.

He will most likely hate my ambitious, brutal Caesars Legion warlord type fellow, for all the murders and such. I may have killed or helped a few people he liked or hated.

I'm dying to see the trailer.

Because they can only fit so much in the DLC and the focus of the DLC is meeting Ulysses at the Divide, which is most likely at the end of the "lonesome road". Maybe we'll have a settlement at the very beginning of the road, or refugees along the way, but it just doesn't seem like it.

However this is the final DLC,and judging from Ulysses's concept art, they seem to be putting a lot of effort into it,and a lot of people, including me,have massive expectations for it,so i doubt it won't be the best of all the 4,and have a lot of content in it.

Definitely. I'm sure Chris Avellone won't let down, and the lack of a settlement definitely doesn't mean it'll disappoint. And because of all of the detail put into Ulysses (hopefully it will stay, Raul had really promising concepts but ended up looking pretty much totally generic), I'm betting that the bulk of it will involve him directly and his involvement with you.

Considering that the divide is constantly hit by hurricanes tornadoes and quakes as mention by the DM DLC I highly doubt the land is habitable. My guess is that a great threat lies in wait and it will take more than 1 courier to handle the thing. It would be nice if we get to cycle between controlling Ulysses and our Courier in combat. I.e Puzzles only solvable between 2 people.

Nah,don't think that kind of thing will happen with the mechanics and gameplay elemens fallout uses.

Anyway, back on topic, what kind of relationship do you want you ppl want Ulysses to have with our couriers? All we know is that it will surprise us and that its appearently important.
