Developer: Gearbox
Publisher: Ubisoft

The story description: Brothers in Arms Furious 4? is a brutal first person shooter offering a refreshing World War II experience with a campaign mode playable up to 4 players in co-op, as well as an extensive competitive multiplayer mode.
The story follows four fierce and fearless soldiers chasing the Fürher himself in the deadliest war ever known. As one of the Furious 4, players battle using special weaponry and unexpected combat abilities, against the greatest threat the world has ever faced: the Nazi uber-weaponry, result of the numerous years of experimentations of the Third Reich.

You’re thought on the series continuing? Here is mine, No, don't do this Gearbox! My favourite thing of the appeal of BIA was the sense of realism and emotion. Going all Inglorious Bastereds with the series will break one of its greatest strengths. The adventure, emotion and troubles we had to go though in Hells Highway was for what? The secrets of murder and sadness of a man who has had war strike him in his weakess place...His Heart…. For what...?

Now with this new game that I could not call it much of a sequel, is to go around killing Nazis for fun, for pleasure. Not to mention this really is a disgrace for everyone that sacrificed himself or herself in Europe.

What are your thoughts on this game, video or the series itself?

Exactly like your own. I also thought the hint at the end of Hell's Highway clearly indicated they were having some Battle of the Bulge ideas over at Gearbox. I don't understand what made them change their thoughts so radically and badly. I hope this is just a joke.

Agreed I thought the same, watching this video makes me think if its a joke. Sadly it is not GearBox is doing it.

I got exited when I read Brothers in Arms, its one of my favorite series. However this just looks meh, I don't mind the whole unrealistic style but I would prefer the next game in the actual BIA series.

Oh gods, from a tactical shooter and emphasis on the characters and their personal stories to this kind of carnival, how low you can go. To be honest, I only checked the video now, I was just too disappointed by the news to bother checking the footage earlier on. It's even worse than I thought or could try to imagine. :cryvaultboy: Other than that, it's a total knock-off of Inglourious Basterds or however it's intentionally spelled wrongly.

Ugh, why would you butcher BiA like that? Just... why?

I have very little respect left for Ubisoft and Gearbox at this point.

Well there are two major locations where Ubisoft is.

Ubisoft somewhere in Europe is the bad one. Then there is Ubisoft in Ontario somewhere I think which is the good one. I am assuming this is the one is Europe they seem to make allot of bad choices.

I thought it was montreal. Anyways this just is plane insulting. I loved Hill30 so much, it was so much better than the CoD games. Oh well I guess good things cant last forever.

They already stated that this is a spin-off game and not a continuation of the main series. They didn't have any good ideas yet where to go with the main series, so instead of delivering an unimaginative sequel they wanted to try something new and are going for a Inglorious Basterds meets Borderlands approach.

I don't get why they had to call it Brothers in Arms. This new game obviously won't have any returning characters from the original trilogy, and if it did it would be a serious foul up on Gearbox's part. It would make more sense to just call this game The Furious Four, and completely leave out the Brothers in Arms part.

So if it had a different name the game would be fine and there would be no problem that Gearbox is working on this instead of a continuation of the BiA mainseries?
Gotta love the logic behind that.

BiA is a franchise and it's not uncommon for franchises to do spin offs. Of course it's for recognition value, it lets developers try something new, without having to push an entirely new IP that people have never heard of.

It just seems distasteful to take emotionally gripping and mostly historically accurate game series and give it a spin-off that's more akin to Tarantino's Planet Terror.

It's because they're trying to exploit the brand name. They're taking a brand name and making something that is similar to the previous installments in name only. This makes it so that fans of the series will buy it anyway and then be disappointed, but newcomers to the series will see "OMFGMINDLESSWOLFENSTEINSTYLESHOOTER!!!!1111one" and snap it up.

It's an effort to get customers from both crowds without caring about alienating half of their fan base.

Well duh :)

Thing is they're not gonna alienate anyone if the game is good. And fact is Gearbox makes some very good games (let's just ignore DNF here). Companies have been making spin offs of popular franchises and characters since forever. Nintendo has been doing it pretty successfully for more than 20 years.

Still it's absurd that gamers get their panties so in a bunch just for them using the franchise name, because like said they're not making a secret out of it that it isn't part of the core series, so what should matter is if the game is any good and not if it's called BiA:Furious4 or just Furious 4 or WW2 Apocalypse or whatever. Names are just words.

I could understand people's reaction more if this was to be a continuation of the BiA mainseries, but again it's not.

I see the points about the spin offs but deep down naming the game Brothers In Arms is still wrong. The points are already stated above.

Could be good in its own right but doesnt deserve the BiA franchise name. I'm hoping its a way to quickly grab some money for the REAL Brothers on Arms 4. I've been on the Gearbox forums lately and the atmosphere is nothing short of hostile, and with good reason, Gearbox had to know that announcing this game would royally piss off the hundreds of dedicated BiA fans. I try to remain optimistic about the series but with Ubisoft behind the wheel of this disaster-bound fail bus I could see it being another money grubbing scheme in an industry that is caring less about customer appreciation and more about profit.

I'm not denying that it might be good on it's own, but it won't be what a lot of Brothers in Arms fans are looking for. Most fans of the series play BiA for an emotionally gripping story, decently realistic tactical shooting, and authentic environments. I saw none of that in the trailer. What I saw was an Inglorious Basterds (or however you misspell it) ripoff.

It just seems to me like they're slapping the Brothers in Arms brand name on a generic over-the-top shooter in order to reach out to more people. That kind of thing isn't good for the brand name and it alienates more customers than it gains.

It's the same reason a lot of people hated Dragon Age 2. It was a good game on its own, but it was such a departure from the first two games that it wasn't what a lot of fans were looking for.

I have Hill 30 I think I'm going to play it sometime. I'm interested on what this game play will be like. Nothing like BIA for obvious reasons.
