Random events.

For all who have played red dead undead nightmare, towns get attacked randomly by zombies every once in a while, well fallout should do that with deathclaw attacking places like sloan ,super mutants attacking places like....sloan etc and if you don't help after a couple attacks the town will be overrun by the enemy who took them over...good FO4 idea? (at low levels the enemies would be like blind deathclaw i, or normal super mutants in low numbers. but at high levels they would be normal deathclaw or super mutants masters in high numbers)

Unless this is a joke, I do think this is a very good idea, since it enhances the feel of ''post-apocalyptic wasteland survival'' that Fallout has as fundamental principle

Aren't Blind Deathclaws more perceptive than regular ones?

I don't know, seems kinda like a pain to have to go around protecting all these random towns just to keep them from dying out. Might work for one or two settlements though.

Yeah and I found them much tougher then there... less blind counter parts.

As for the topic at hand...

I vote NO.

I remember FO:3 there was a town south of Old Olny (the place that had queen bee, and robot man fighting each other) that I loved to use as a selling point.
I remember going to said town, and wondering where everyone was...
It was horrible... body parts, and blood was everywhere.
I had no clue what happened till I turned the corner, and found a half dead Deathclaw charging me.
1 Deathclaw killed my favorite selling spot, and some NPCs I had grown to love, and I was powerless to do anything about it.

Was it more realistic? Yeah
Did I enjoy it? Nope

I would be in favour of anything that spiced up the game. The mojave is soooooooooo boring. Pretty much every aspect of this game was an improvement over FO3 except for the open world/random encounters/replayabilty, which to me is the bread and butter of these types of games. Just don't understand how Obsidian could have dropped the ball on such a obvious design feature.

I am on a console, so no mods for me :nope:

Well there is this really. Fallout 3 has a zombie apocalypse mod that did almost this. Every person a zombie killed that NPC became a zombie. It was very fun for a play through; I loved being the last of the few to survive. Trying to keep my settlement alive from the hordes.

Sadly I do not know if such a thing exists in Fallout New Vegas. :(

Fallout: New Vegas... just a series of random events? Or is it really.... The Twilight Zone.

OT- I wouldn't mind it, but I'd hate to stroll up to Primm and find everyone dead because a random Chameleon decided to go on a happy massacre.

Yes please, go ahead and let a random beast kill all the very important NPC that would play a key role in solving your quests.
Cheers!

I can imagine it now, a few hours into the game you get messages coming up say you failed this quest and that quest. You'll be like okay, didn't even know that quest existed but I failed it.

I like this idea but Deathclaws and Super Mutants seems a bit extreme, they'd own everything and leave nothing, I'd maybe suggest a few Feral Ghouls once in a while since these guys are at times tough guys at low levels and then as your level increases Reavers come in with Glowing Ones ?
Even Geckos would be good babies and a mum go on a hunt find a town, ohh no ! Then later on the Green Geckos appear with Gold Geckos ?

Red Dead Redemption did a good job of that, anyways I think it would be a great idea, maybe just because I'm that bored in New Vegas right now, but there would have to be exceptions: like during the attack all important NPCs are replaced with security or Soldiers, etc. (Depending on who owns the town.) And maybe not have them happen at any random given moment to give you a chance to set traps, like a town communicates with you on your pip-boy and tells you about the upcoming attack in a few hours. Sooooo, yes!
