Argentina

Post » Fri Jul 01, 2011 3:37 am

What's Argentina like? Economically, socially, what kind of government is it, etc, etc etc?

I'm almost finished with college (a few more months), and I want out of the country I'm in now (USA).

Other places I've looked into are Finland, Denmark, and France.

Hopefully there's some people here that either live in these places, or know about them so I can get some opinions from people who live there, rather than from pamphlets meant for tourists.

Thanks tons,
Jake

Hispanic.

All kidding aside, I've heard Argentina is a REAL nice place. One of the better countries in South America (according to a friend of mine who visits his family there every year). It has excellent food, friendly people and a very nice atmosphere or 'feel'. To be honest though...if you want my opinion...I'd move to Denmark or some other European country over a South American country.

That's what I was thinking, which is why I've been looking into the other places I mentioned, but I too have heard good things about Argentina.

I got a few thousand saved up now, so hopefully soon after I graduate I can start looking for a place, move, then start working towards getting new citizenship.

May I ask: why Finland? Out of ALL Scandinavian countries you could live, why it? If I moved to a Scandinavian country it would be Sweden first, then Norway and finally Finland.

I have a family friend from Finland, and he's by far the coolest and nicest guy I ever met. Always inviting us to come and stay there and talking about how nice it is and what not.

I'm open to pretty much any suggestion. So long as I'm out of this place, I'm good. And I'm more than willing to learn another language and new customs if need be.

It's Maradona's country, and that's all you need to know.

I haven't been there personally, but my sister studied abroad there. It's supposed to be a really nice place, and I think it essentially is the most developed country in South America. But if you are going anywhere in South America, you should know about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yerba_mate

Argentina is beautiful -a friend of mine lives with his wife and kids north of Cordoba just outside of Jesus Maria. Farm country with very vibrant green hills :)

Now let us stop and ponder the Argentinian senorita's.. :whistling:

So true, when I was in France I walked into the cubicle, stopped and thought "Is it supposed to be like this, or have vandals stolen the toilet?"

Are those the squat toilets? I never understood how those work... I mean, wouldn't you make a mess if things got... explosive?

Yep, the horrible squat toilets. I don't even understand why they have them, a real toilet is far more convenient.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was because back in the day, the toilet as we know and love it, was an English invention, and the French wouldn't have anything to do with anything English.. so they invented their own.

It's a design in progress as far as I'm concerned..

And if you don't think the French used to be that petty about things.. ask yourself why we -continental Europe, drive on the right side of the road..

yup.. because the English decided to drive on the left side first.

or so I was told :whistling:

Sweden and Norway sound good too.

Basically anywhere I can get a job with a 4 year degree in computer science, as well as the country having a semi-decent health care system. Plus, I think it would be nice to get out and see the world, seeing as how I've been in school the last ~17 years, and the last 3 years with no breaks.
