DLC news

Post » Sun Jul 03, 2011 5:12 pm

I am not an avid forum user. In fact most of the time I can't read mindless arguments. This is very important to me though. I have been anticipating the new DLC since I got the game at midnight release. I was troubled by lag issues and the like. When I heard there was DLC planned for late June I was very excited. When it didn't come out I wasn't too disappointed.

However, I payed $60 U.S. for a partially incomplete experience. Today you can purchase Brink for almost $30 U.S. just a couple of months later. Not a big deal for a game I still like despite all of its minor faults. I have camped the beth-forums since day 1 for any news about the game. There were a couple of updates ( thx) but nothing I would consider "news". Now we are in July (I know atm it is only the 2nd) and after searching through various articles on the web I found news. Not here as it should be, but through a 3rd party site that I had never heard of. It says that a release date has been "set" for July 30th. That doesn't sound like taking care of the remaining 40% of your original player base.

Here is where I found the article:

http://www.yourgamercards.net/index.php/news.html/_/news/ps3news/brink-dlc-agents-of-change-release-date-announced-r635

Flame all you like. I am disappointed in Splash Damage AND Bethesda for not telling us here where it should be. Are we going to get a second free DLC with an undisclosed release date for the amount of time it has taken the developers to fix the game we the players have spent the last 3 months beta testing for them?

I AM a fan. I am also out of patience after reading news on a third party site. Nobody else may feel this way but, does it matter all it takes is one person to point something out for everyone to see it.

See all of you on Brink tonight~!

Ah so that's where everyone has been pulling the July 30th date. I wouldn't trust that site since the official word that has been released is "expected early July." http://bethblog.com/index.php/2011/06/24/update-on-brink-dlc-title-updates-and-new-screenshots/ Of course who knows if they actually mean "early July" since "sometime in June" didn't happen and "free" became "free for two weeks," so I'd take it with a grain of salt. In my opinion the best place to check for updates would be at http://twitter.com/#!/brinkgame since they seem to communicate the most via twitter, everywhere else is usually uncomfortably silent.

I think you're being quite generous in saying 40% of the original player base.
Otherwise I agree.

The original article was pulled from an MTV website. Not that it is anymore trustworthy but it is a larger news feed. I agree with following on Twitter but that's not Bethesda OR Splash Damage, it's Twitter. Come on Bethesda tell your fans (and source of income) what the REAL deal is.

Well that is not run by twitter, it's the official twitter account for Brink and it is most likely run by Bethesda as it is linked with brinkthegame.com, their site. But whether it's run by http://twitter.com/#!/Bethblog or http://twitter.com/#!/splashdamage doesn't really matter since http://twitter.com/#!/brinkgame forwards all the important announcements from both of them as well.

I didn't mean to irritate you Emerald. Semantics aside, it would make more sense to put news up where it is labeled to be. In fact the first forum thread is for such things, and I don't see all of that on Twitter.

Well as far as I can remember them saying, the DLC is done and finished. They're just waiting for Microsoft/Sony testing or approval or whatever it is they have to do to release it in their stores. Early July is what we've been told which is probably only an estimation, but it's not in SD's hands any more.

If you want updates as, well, up-to-date as they get, do what I've done and create a Twitter account. Sign up to recieve mobile phone alerts, and turn them on for http://twitter.com/#!/brinkgame, http://twitter.com/#!/splashdamage and/or http://twitter.com/#!/bethblog
