What real world place is the Divide?

Post » Mon Jul 04, 2011 3:08 am

My guess is its somewhere in or near Death Valley National Park, perhaps at Hells Gate or Rhyolite Ghost Town. Anyone else have any idea's?
The divide is supposed to have major storms so maybe at Saline Valley since they have frequent and visible lightning Storms.

It doesn't have a real world equivalent, that we know of.

I would say the Grand Canyon. But I think I remember it being said that Old world blues was in Grand Canyon.

Or, it could just be something that was caused by the Great War, and isn't an actual landmark that's important.

There some sort of refrence on the wiki, when the Brotherhood's Zeplin flew over the divide and ending up crash landing somewhere.

It cannot be the Grand Canyon. The Divide is somewhere back West, as it is mentioned by Joshua Graham that NCR couldn't get reinforcements to the Dam because of it.

This makes me think that it is either Death Valley or it has no real-world equivalent.

Based on Van Buren info its in the grand canyon where they were mining for either uranium or plutonium but there have been several changes to each element fron Van Buren so the actual location could differ but the grand canyon still makes the most sense.

Didn't Grahman say that it was Death Valley? Filled with storms and that the incident that happened there means that the NCR reinforcements are weaker? If so then it is - self-evidently - in the Death Valley National Park which, like Grahman says, would hinder NCR reinforcements as it lies directly in-between Vegas and Shady Sands (if we take Sand's to be slightly south-east of Mt. Whitney, Vault 13's approx location).

EDIT: Would also make more sense than the Grand Canyon which is in the complete opposite direct from the Canyon Wreckage, which incidently would also lead to Death Valley.

EDIT 2: Graham also mentions Route's 127 & 88 which are also close to Death Valley in California.

There is essentially no doubt that it will be in or right next to Death Valley, as it was stated explicitly in Honest Hearts. I wonder if the road we'll be travelling is the entire way to Death Valley? It would be awesome if the expedition was a week long if you bothered sleeping, and as the map isn't Point Lookout-like and is Point A to B, it wouldn't be unreasonable.
