Cass is easily my favorite NPC, and I have used her in 90% of my runs. However during my latest I decided to try to make the happiest ending I could siding with Mr. House. I finished all the sub faction side quests, and was over all a saint. For the first time I decided I would not do the vengeance version of Cass's quest, and let her have a 'happier ending'.

My mind was blown... Vengeance seems to be the right answer who knew. Long story short her heart jumps a beat when she sees the dam returned to power, and... she shares her last word with it? Am I right in thinking she just killed herself? Or am I taking in the wrong message? I know things did not work out in the end, but she does not seem like she is 'that' type.

No she didn't kill herself that ending was part of house's ending slide (and it had nothing to do with her personal quest).
Cassidy has two ending slides, one based off how you complete her personal quest and one based on the winning faction.

To clarify: This isn't a reference to her killing herself. The last words are referring to how she perceives New Vegas itself - she thinks House is holding too tightly to the Old World, so a "victory" at Hoover Dam to her is actually a step back into history and the old ways ("facing backwards the whole time"), not really moving into a new future. No confusion intended.

In the years following the destruction of Cassidy Caravans, NCR used evidence of the plot to blackmail the Crimson Caravan and the Van Graffs. NCR enacted strict trade laws with little resistance, strengthening their supply lines and their position in the Mojave.
