New Vegas LP Character

Post » Wed Jul 06, 2011 10:15 am

Hello, ladies and gentlemen. I have decided, after I finish and upload the NPC battles that I have promised, to start a Lets Play of Fallout: New Vegas. You may be saying "But the game has been out for a while and a lot of people have already done LPs." Well, herein lies the difference: this LP is going to be centered on what YOU, the viewers, want to see in the LP, YOU decide my character build, even down to his or her name (I'd rather it be a him), YOU decide his/her background, and I'll try to even fit an appearance, as well as I can, and all along the series, either on its own or purposefully, if i so happen to stop an episode during a quest or before i make a decision, i'll let the viewers decide my next course of action, if it fits with the role

This thread is for you all to decide the character build for the LP. Tags, Trait (just one, i will be taking Wild Wasteland because I can't figure out how to completely uninstall Monster Mod without being attacked by invisible creatures, and it serves as an excuse for all the silliness of the mod), appearance, background, even go into details if you want. The most popular idea here will be the one I use :disguise:

Side with the NCR, seriously, NCR has the most amount of quests so you'll never run out of content. And put him in your modded Talon armor, its a good way to set your videos apart from everybody elses.

I've actually uninstalled the Talon Pack, but I'll reinstall it if you want the character to be a TC Merc come out west.

Hell I'd rather him be a ranger, you know that, but using the Talon armor is a cool way to put your own little stamp on it and make it unique.

I'd like it if more people than the die-hard NCR-lover were putting forth ideas, no offense.

Play a Talon Company merc! You know you want to! :P

Basically, just take whatever option a) is the most likely to ensure your own survival and b ) is the most likely to earn you the most caps, regardless of the moral implications whether they be good or bad. I think that it'd actually be pretty hilarious to see what unintentional impact you have on the Mojave while you're simply out for Number One.

You can use the http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=39441 mod to make it authentic right from the start, too!

I think the most likely group to side with would be House, as you're basically a merc working for him, but Yes Man also seems like a good option. Legion or NCR not so much, because if they win then the fighting stops in the whole region instead of just Vegas-bad for business.

I already had the Talon Pack, I just need a way to mod it to fit with XFO, as it is, the DT is deplorable in the new conditions. A merc role sounds good to me, still want to see more people's input.

I wanna see you either:

1) Fail as many speech checks as possible. Actually take them if you don't have the skill for them. This would be interesting because your LP would be come a collection of them, and they're quite humorous. A character like this would require god awful INT and Luck to keep your skills low, probably at 1, and you'd have to both invest your points heavily into skills that don't have many speech checks (energy weapons, melee weapons, lockpick, sneak, unarmed, guns has boring speech checks) and then divide your points evenly among all the others to keep from meeting the skill checks.

2) Cause as much havoc as possible. Always aim for the most evil path for each of the 28 endings. This would be interesting because this game has some decisions that really are psychotic and no one ever takes them, though again, it could be interesting to see something new.

3) Do a Caesar's Legion or Mr. House playthrough. Everyone and their mother does Independent or NCR.

I've actually been itching to do a Heavy Weapons Guy playthrough, but haven't done it yet, I could do all 3 with that.

A pro NCR let's play would be boring. I say that because I've put over a hundred hours into that faction in game, and besides the character becomes more one-dimenisional. Here's my two cents and good idea by the way.

A. He (yes He) needs to be morally neutral. So he wouldn't just go killing cilivans but he doesn't go out of his way to help them. At the same time when wronged he tends to go after those who wrong him. So if some Powder Gangers shoot at him, he'll make it his goal to kill them. If someone disrespects him (Like Caeser threating to kill him, the BOS taking him hostage with the collar, etc) He reacts then and there with violence.
B. He works for the NCR sometimes but overall could care less about them and there war. Being a Freeside Native the only group he ever finds himself fully in is the Kings. He respects and helps the FoA and most of his time is spent killing Fiends, doing missions for the Strip and Outer Communities. Highly pragmatic and greedy he'll work for the NCR deal with the Kings (by getting a negogation), or House kill Benny but overall it becomes clear he wants to rule Vegas.
