Mormonism, Book of Mormon, Honest Hearts, Mitt Romney and Jo

Mormonism seems to be making a big public splash this year in media. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tggtPHDmrR8, the broadway musical about http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZFCdIM3N-Y got an outstanding 14 Tony nominations. We got 2 front-runner Mormon candidates running for President on the GOP ticket and then a DLC for a major game having a story and characters around Mormonism.

I was raised Orthodox Christian and I remember people in the church telling me that Mormonism was not Christian. They told me lies about Mormons liked that they worshipped Joseph Smith instead of Jesus Christ, which isn't true. And I found the Mormon belief that God is God and Jesus is the son of God made more sense than the trinity where they are all one and the same...

Today I'm an Atheist, but I feel I have a better understanding of Mormons because of Honest Hearts and other things that have brought Mormon culture into the spotlight. For so many years they have been seen as a taboo and I think it's good that the general public becomes more tolerant towards them and against other people such as Atheists, Homosixuals, etc.

I agree, however we don't allow threads about religion or politics on the forums. Something strictly game-related is fine, but discussing Mormonism in the broader sense is not.
