Specs needed for Fallout New Vegas?

Post » Fri Jul 08, 2011 5:03 am

Okay, so I was thinking of saving up some money to get a computer decent enough to play New Vegas, even if it's close to the lowest settings.

Since I'm like a stereotypical blonde when it comes to computers I need some help on this.
And I had my eye on this one: http://cdon.se/hemelektronik/15inch_fujitsu_lifebook_ah530_intel_i3-380m_4gb_320gb_15.6_w7hp_hd6530-14001789

I wouldn't get a laptop for a gaming PC, but a short answer is: Yes, it would. However I think most prebuilt desktops may be more expensive than a laptop, and as you don't know anything about computers, building one from different parts is out of the question. And I don't know which websites would ship to Sweden so I don't know where to look for suggestions.

That'll do New Vegas fine, definetly, but ~500€ seems quite much for that system. Or is Sweden exceptionally expensive when it comes to computers?

Also, re-post this question here: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1207079-the-community-tech-thread-no-102/. That's where all the hardcoe tech gurus hang out :hehe:

Since I'm awful at computers, don't like window shopping and hate hearing someone brilliant about computers talk about a bunch of rubbish (in my ears) I don't have a lot of options.
Since I don't have a "real" credit card either I can't order one from anywhere I want either.
And the price range can't be too high since I live on welfare.

So my options really are limited.
If this one is decent enough for New Vegas then so be it.
Don't really have the time/knowledge/interest/patience to learn about computers enough to know what is a good deal or a bad deal.
So if this one is decent enough then so be it, no matter the price, I'll just simply be out of cigarettes for a month. :P

The system looks decent to me. I am gaming NV on a much inferior laptop with all the Enhanced Shaders, Cinematech, Imaginator and Dynavision kind-of-shinies btw.

But like Tojka said, doesn't ~500€ seem too much?

The other computers I saw were ranging from 6000 to 12000 kronors. (I'm guessing 10 kronors=1Euro in direct transfer)
So since this one is 4500 kronors I consider it a bargain. (Then again, what do "I" know. :P )

The price doesn't seem absolutely horrendous for that system, really. I bet you could find better deals but it seems you don't actually care that much. Also, I see it comes with 64-bit Win7, which is good as you would otherwise have to get a new operating system with the computer . . . Hm. Basic answer is that it will definitely run the game, so just use your own discretion if you want to pay that much for it.

I checked the finnish version of that store, and that same system sells for 500€ there. Seems to be just the shop (or brand) that's exepensive. Still that's not a terrible rip-off so if you can afford it and can't get it anywhere cheaper, go for it :)
