Ocarina of Time on 3DS or N64?

Post » Sat Jul 09, 2011 4:04 am

I have a fully functioning N64 with a copy of Ocarina of Time, but recently I've been thinking about getting a 3DS and with it; Ocarina of Time. Which do you think would be better? Replaying it on the N64 with the bonus of nostalgia and that original feel, or On the 3DS with more comfortable controls and improved graphics?

N64 for the nostalgia, 3DS for a technically better game.

Well, nostalgia has been preserved while improving upon aspects that genuinely needed improvement. I haven't bought it on 3DS simply because I already have it for the Nintendo 64. It's improved, but it's still by and large the same game. The only new content added was a boss rush mode. I'd pick it up for the 3DS in a heartbeat if I didn't already have it though.

Sometimes I think that gems are best left untouched.

They sell it on the Wii marketplace for a few bucks. If ya got one, might be worth checking out.

I've never played it on the N64, but so far I adore the 3DS version.

3ds version is a carbon copy of the edited version (unfortunately) with better sound, graphics, animations, and it is bundled with a boss battle mode to replay bosses and the Master Quest.

I have both and both are good so i would get the 3ds version.

I've played and beaten it on both systems

the 3DS version does a very good job of preserving the nostalgia of the game. It really is the exact same game with some very minor adjustments

obviously if you want pure, unmolested nostalgia get it on the N64, but if you'd like to see OoT as the developers wanted it to be back in 1998 get it on 3DS, it's great, it really is.

I think the real question is whether or not you want the 3DS, Ocarina of Time aside. If you do, then I don't think there's much justification in not getting it; if you don't, I suspect you'd regret shelling out ~$300 for one game you could have played on your old N64.

And yeah, I've been replaying Ocarina of Time recently(after not touching it for about 8 years). I'd forgotten what a great game it is. Though I have to admit. . . I prefer Majora's Mask. *ducks rotten fruit*

I would like a 3DS for some of the new titles, however it's kinda lacking in them at the moment. Also I liked Majora's Mask, but the time limit put me off.

I'd say don't buy a 3DS just for a game that you already own. Wait until they come out with some other games you'd like before making a decision.

I've been playing it on N64 recently. It still has the magic :)

Ahh, but the question truly is "red blood or green blood?"
