When I started looking up information on Brink before the release date, I already decided because of their overall Objectives, the Resistance was my kind of Faction. I'm curious for the people who play as Security, why did you choose to play as them? I'm into the Fluff, but I think even the uniforms cool is a reasonable answer.

my question is... what is the point of choosing your side?... just so it shows that character on the menu and plays that factions music?...

Could it also be related to online preference? Perhaps choosing a side tells the game you'd like to play more with one faction than the other?

So when you join an online game, you aren't randomly selected for the faction you wouldn't want to play as (unless of course the server is more than half full).

Well I play as Resistance because of their goals of reallocating the Arks resources and leadership, as well as their desire to contact the outside world. I wouldn't pick a side based on technical or gameplay mechanics (unless there were much greater differences) I picked based on the role in the games plot.

They truly messed up this part of the game tbo, to make the game match the story security should have better resources ammo/food/technologies and resistance should have more of a home made scrap metal type deal with their weapons.

But i choose resistance mainly because i prefer their missions/objectives on most maps. plus i get to look like a hobo

The look of Security is refined and High-Class more.
The mission of Security is protection and stability.

Security for sure, they are not perfect but the resistance are misguided cult like drones under Chen, Chen lied to them when he said founders tower was empty, and that may be a what if mission for the resistance but it shows what horrible actions he will do if he doesn't get his way, also if you listen to the audio logs the people in the slums should be happy they have what they have, the founders didn't have to let them in they could have let them rot with the rest of the world. Lastly the only reason they don't make contact with the outside world is because they tried ten years earlier and the scouts they sent were tortured to death, and they can't tell anyone because it might cause extra panic, I honestly feel sorry for the security.

Because the Resistance is a bunch of idiots and terrorists. Not to mention, brought their problems on themselves. (Such as the 'plague' they have.)

I chose Security because Security is just trying to keep everyone safe, and stop the Resistance from killing a bunch of innocent people.

Chen chose to lead the Resistance because violent conflict was brewing regardless of his involvement, it was just to keep someone worse out of the leadership circle, like the splinter group that set off the reactor. The Resistance are trying to improve conditions for the majority, getting off of floating steel islands. I was under the impression there had been an actual natural plague; was that a scheme by a big player or was it a lie Chen put out?

The only reason I chose Security over Resistance is because I preferred their style options and the clean weapons. I'm a very Contemporary styled person, I prefer clean lines and sharp colors. I also happen to be very principled and lawful, so I can relate MORE to the Security side over the more rebellious side of Resistance.

(By principled, I don't mean I am very lawful... I have my principles that I feel make me a good person and I stick to them, almost flawlessly. But I don't mindlessly follow so-called "leaders" or what-have-you. Do not be mislead. )

And maybe it's just a glitch in the match making, but I HARDLY join a game on the security side. Just the other night I played a ton of games and maybe only two of around 10 games I was on security. Maybe it was isolated, but still.
