Norm MacDonald

Post » Mon Jul 11, 2011 7:50 pm

Lately, I've been unable to enjoy any comedy if it does not contain Norm MacDonald. He just seems to render every other once funny person blasphemous and pointless. Once I watch him, then I go to watch another comedian, I just lose interest a third of the way through. He's like some kind of sorcerer. I was wondering if I was the only one who felt this way. Does anyone else share my love for Norm MacDonald?

I've had to google him. Never heard of him.

As for me, my favourite comedians are George Carlin and Monty Python.

Never heard of him? What's the world coming to? Are you outside of the US?

I had to google the name just to verify he was who I thought he was. Not funny, at all. He's awkward as all heck. He must have went to the same school of comedy as Jimmy Fallon. Laughing at your own jokes = fail.

He's not awkward, his style of comedy is that he mocks every other form of comedy there is. He makes everyone else look like an idiot, by looking like an idiot. It's really hard to explain, you either get it or you don't. Many people do not get his style of comedy and I don't blame them, he's very very different. Especially from current comics.

I'd never heard of him before, so I just had a look on YouTube. He's actually quite funny, for an American, but you guys have such a different idea of comedy to us... My favourite stand-ups at the moment are Stewart Lee and Tim Key...

I agree - he's not awkward, it's part of its style. It's an interesting style, and refreshing compared to the mindless cult of personality stand up that's so common on US TV.

Agreed. Today in America all you have to do is string together a line of obscenities and everyone considers you a comical mastermind.

Can't say I'm a fan, I know who he is but I don't remember anything he as in, which leaves me to believe he was not all that impressive.Everyone has a different sense of humor though so to each their own.

Meh. He's trite. I don't particularly find him funny nor unfunny. Some things he is mildly entertaining but most times he's annoying.

But then again, I'm angry 99% of the time anymore since my life completely svcks so I just want to hurt people and destroy things. Like I told my friend the other day when I made a comment about physically tearing something to pieces and he said, "Why?" my reply was, "Because I just want to destroy nice things, there is nothing good in the world and it all needs to end."

Dammit, I thought it was some kind of play on words with "the maltese islands". Like there was some kind of place called "Malt Isle" in Iowa or something. :P
