Recommend me - yes me - music:

As some of you may - or may not - know, my favorite genre of music is Rock/Metal. My least favorite genre of music is Country. However, though Rock/Metal are my favorite genres of music, they ARE NOT the only genres of music I'll listen to; I also enjoy Techno/Trance/Industrial, Asian music (most from anime), and a large assortment of "misc tunes" (i.e. Aqua - Cartoon Heroes (Bubblegum pop) or Sean Paul - We Be Burning (Rap...ish)). Now...time for the specifics:

By metal I mean audible Metal. Audible Metal meaning I can make out at least some of the words being sung. My least favorite genres are Black metal and Thrash metal for metal - Black because it's simply "meh" to me, and Thrash, because I haven't found all that many Thrash bands during my "musical journey". My favorite genres of metal are usually the sub-genres of an already sub-genre (i.e. Melodic Death metal). The reason behind this, again...I prefer audible Metal over non-audible Metal, and most PURE metal genres (i.e. Black) isn't all that audible to me (I do love Progressive metal, though).

As for Rock, I can pretty much stand a large majority of Rock. The only sub-genres of rock I dislike are Country rock, Rock that sounds Nickelback or Theory of a Deadman (constipated vocals), and MAIN mainstream Rock (i.e. 3 Doors Down). I also enjoy Metalcore and the rest of the genres followed by "core" - I find Deathcore (screamo) is pretty hit or miss with me though. "Scene music" is also a no-go, or no-listen, for me.

Techno/Trance/Industrial music I've just started to get into...kinda sorta. I prefer Techno and Trance over Industrial, because, again, the "audible music" mindset I possess - Industrial is pretty much the Black metal of the club scene. I can get into some Industrial music however, bands like Psyclon Nine or (old) Dawn of Ashes. Misc music (i.e. Aqua) is somewhat hit-or-miss with me - because, well...most misc music that is pretty obscene.

Note: It should be noted I'll take Black, Thrash metal and Industrial music into consideration. Because, like I stated (I believe?) I don't dislike the genres, I just haven't found many bands I like that are in them.

Have you heard the Thrash band Overkill. Their albums http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEYwNeBD4Uk and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnbkooM9CM8 are brilliant. The title track of the former being I think beautiful.

I am not obviously aware of you musical knowledge. do you know of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qHWJML0Skg or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mv82_BvKjw0 because I would recommend them as well

X Japan are good if you like asian music, they are a metal band and most of their lyrics are in Japanese. They have a song called http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_VNlzYnN4Q however that is pretty damn good (these lyrics happen to be in English though)

The album http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVF5YOxkPew, trully brilliant Hard Rock/Blues

If you're looking for techno, try The Prodigy. I recommend Breathe, Firestarter, and Smack My B**** Up on the "Fat of the Land" album

For metalcore, As I Lay Dying, All That Remains, and Bullet For My Valentine are my favorites.

Most of my posts in the metal thread are of black or doom metal, if you want to try some of them out, head over there.

Also, there are too many music threads now, like a new thread every day with less specifications than the last.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZK0GmiSMNGI is pretty good on this front, since you mentioned Aqua.

You could also check out some random stuff I've got, since I don't really ascribe to bands or groups enough to reccommend:

And you don't have to be into MLP to like the Not A Clever Pony fan music:

You can never have too many music threads

Normally I would agree, but if the same bands/artists keep getting mentioned over and over in different threads it feels kind of spammy. That doesn't mean it has happened yet, but at this rate it will happen, and it'll happen sooner than you'd think.

Then I guess the people posting need to try and stay original, which I am trying to do.

@ The OP, another thrash band you may like is Heathen- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyqANfMzlIs, this song is heavy but also has a melodic middle section and a very good solo at the end

I would heavily recommend The Aquabats. Dunno what genre nor how to describe them, but they have some really great songs. I'll linky to 2 of my favorites. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzVB3zHeh4U and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-EvHAhK8J7k

Edit:HTML decided to hate me.

Original, pah... I'll just do the same thing I do everytime I reply to one of these threads and throw some Portishead at it. OP never said anything about Trip-Hop but...

My friend recently introduced me to the band Black Tide, and I love them so far. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VKCLohLM48 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ve2C2lvo2o. They're a lot like Iron Maiden, IMO, and he even told me that's his main reason for loving them.

What do you mean former? SOAD didn't break up, they were just on hiatus.

For some reason I'm gonna recommend Biffy Clyro, they're a pretty unique band imo and one of my favourite bands of all time.

Be patient with Hardstyle Techno, the riff (good part) of the songs usually comes late, but I'll start you off with some of my absolute favorites that start off relatively quickly.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CrFzHsv8C8 (Hardstyle Techno)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCjuULQdvJo (Hardstyle Techno)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYwdOZBI4RE (Hardstyle Techno)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8l_IZz1OVPw (Hardstyle Techno this song gets AMAZING about 1 minute in)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSrTmnrURuw (Not sure what genre this is but you have to listen to this)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfFnU0FUGno (Electronic)

I'll post some more if you guys like this stuff... I'm gonna take the time to say that youtube really doesn't do music that much justice :sadvaultboy: I'm an audiophile and I like my music at 320kbps... when I listen to my fave music on youtube I cringe lol
