The Avengers & Captain America

Post » Sun Jul 24, 2011 11:43 am

Ok, so Hollywood is pumping out Marvel movies left and right. But it seems only the official Marvel Studios ones are any good really. IE The Avengers.

Mark Ruffalo is now Bruce Banner.

Chris Evans completely took the role of Steve Rogers putting and end to doubt in nerds minds everywhere.

Hawkeye has no movie. I'm guessing he will be prominently shown in the 2012 Avengers movie.

I'm guessing the movie will be similar to issue 1 of The Avengers comic. Loki will trick the Hulk and he will be a minor villain, with all Avengers battling him and eventually turning on Loki to fight with the Avengers.

So, really, Marvel comic and movie discussion? What are your thoughts? What do you want to see in the Avengers? What do you look forward to?

I kinda find it sad that they use nazis in the movie, we are trying to forget about nazis and the best they can do is literally make a movie about a cyber 2nd world war and make sure that the bad guys are German.
Even today there are people who hate Germans just cause they think everyone's a nazi and even in Germany there are a lot of nazis still who think they're cool and whatever. Kinda sad really

It's pretty hard to make a movie about Captain America's origin and leave out Red Skull.

He was created in 1941. Of course at the time he had to battle Nazis.

Spoiler
I'm just glad they froze him for 70 years.

Why is it sad? It's fun picking on one of the most technologically advanced people during the Second World War. They may have had their too late Wonderwaffes and their 1st Assault Rifle and dem fancy planes but we got CAPTAIN AMERICA!!!!! F YEAH!!!!!

Seriously though, it's fun picking on them because nobody likes them.

Hollywood should stop. While they make money (most drivel will), they are terrible films.

Well the comic book is set in WWII....so I don't really see how you could avoid it.

Spoiler
Plus in the majority of the movie, they were fighting Red Hydra, not Nazis.

Casting Mark Ruffalo for Bruce Banner is nothing exciting.... He's a less than stellar personality, imo.... Worse though, is casting Lou Ferringo to do the voice of the (likely) fully computer generated Hulk.

None of these comic book super hero movies have been anything really special. However, they have at least been some of the best block-buster type action flicks in recent years. I think you have to go into these things with the mentality that that's all they're going to be.

While I was familiar with plenty of things Marvel, I wasn't too caught up in Captain America, so in comparison to those who were, I find I'll likely be a bit easier to please.

We're going to wait to see this Tuesday when it's discount day. It's the first year in a while where I've actually been interested in quite a number of films. I just hope they don't screw up the Avengers too badly.

I enjoyed Captain America, it being one of the best Marvel movies to even come out. I am sure the Avengers movie will be pretty good also, so I will definately watch it as well.

Nazis =/= Germans. Nazism is an ideal. And as said before, you really couldn't make a movie about Captain America without Nazis.

I'm super excited that Joss Whedon is directing The Avengers. Hopefully it'll have that FireFly vibe to it.

On the topic of comic-book movies, the only ones I haven't really liked thus far have been Spiderman 2 and 3, and Green Lantern. All the others I've enjoyed.

The Spiderman reboot looks promising. I've never seem the kid playing Parker nor the girl playing Jane so we'll see.

I'm going to go see Capt. America tomorrow. I've never been a big fan of the comics, but I've enjoyed the movies I've seen with him. Although, it might have only been one, I don't remember. I've liked pretty much all the super hero movies that have come out, even Ghost Rider. I think I just like seeing my comics come to life.

I'm biased towards Thor. He's my ultimate favorite superhero. I loved the movie. I can't wait to see more of him in Avengers and sequels.

I'm still looking forward to the day when Hollywood reaches its full potential and finally starts to make Herbert "Daring" Dashwood, and his ghoul man-servant, Argyle!

I saw the ad when I went to see Capt. America today. Geez, he needs another reboot already?
