Fallout/Post apocalyptic movies

Post » Fri Jul 29, 2011 9:37 pm

Does anyone know any good post apocalyptic movies like Fallout?. If you know any please could you post the names here. I've been trying to find a few for awhile now but I've not had much luck. So far I've watched The Book of Eli and The Road an there good movies but I want something with a more Fallout kind of feel to it.

Well, Fallout was largely inspired by Mad Max (the Road Warrior, not the original), so yeah, that's a good place to start.

man i don't even know if you're trolling but i have to second this. i loved this movie when i was a kid. i haven't actually seen it since so i don't know WHY everybody hates it but when i was a kid it was the coolest thing.

also yeah the latter two Mad Max movies fit the bill pretty much perfectly. not so much Avellone/Sawyer's games, but Fallout and Fallout 3 for sure.

I'm with you. Never understood that hate  . And if you're into Keven Costner post apocalyptic movies, there is The Postman, too.

Only partially. It's a terrible movie, for sure, but I still love it.

Yeah I've seen Waterworld before it kicks ass!. I've seen parts of Mad Max when I was a kid but never really seen them to the end so I'll be sure to watch them.
As for Six String Samurai I'll keep an eye out for it.

To add to that,

The Road Warrior
Beyond Thunderdome

And, hopefully:

Fury Road (though I don't expect it to be as good without Max).

Also,

The Postman
Book of Eli (Although, some would argue)
The Road (I haven't seen it but I've heard it was good.)
Lord of the Flies

There's also Stalker, which the game was apparently based on (well, it or the novel Roadside Picnic, which they're both ultimately based on). I have it lying around somewhere but haven't watched it yet, so I've no idea if it's even relevant let alone any good...

Mad Max for sure, and then there's A Boy and His Dog, but I haven't seen that.

Yup - seconded. The film is also known as "Mark-13" if you can't find it. It's got (goth rocker) Carl McCoy in it.

Mad Max for sure, and then there's A Boy and His Dog, but I haven't seen that.

I've seen A Boy and His Dog, and it's an obvious influence on Fallout. I spent the first half wondering if I was going to get into the film, but the ending just makes it, so stick with it.

I'd also recommend Doomsday, which is basically a homage to Mad Max and Escape From New York.

If you want a glimpse of the pre-nuclear Fallout world, I'd suggest Kubrick's "Dr Strangelove" - I've always found its style and humor to be a clear influence on the original design of Fallout, and it's brilliant. :D

It's because the plot is thinner than a starving supermodel. Really, 80% of the movie is just stuff, mechanical parts moving and the like. It has literally no substance. Mostly though it's because Kevin Costner emotes about as much as your average brick, a cardboard cutout would be more engaging to watch.

Anyway, a few movies. Some if not all have probably been mentioned before:

-Mad Max movies.
-Book of Eli.
-The Road (Feeling happy? This movie will take care of that for you...)

Can't actually think of any more off the top of my head...

I love that movie. It was really funny, but yet i wasn't laughing, but yet I still found it funny. Odd.

The Road is an amazing flick, if you want post-apocalytc (as it probably would be) then the Raod is by far your best beet.

The Book of Eli reminds me too much of Fallout, to the point where it seems like it was based off Fallout 3 to a point.

Blood of Heroes is still my all-time favorite.

There's also Cyborg. (1 and 3 are basically post-apocalyptic - but 2 is the best on account of a young Angelina Jolie.)

And... Solarbabies!
