Convince me to get rage.

Post » Sat Aug 06, 2011 4:07 am

I was really excited about rage but it kinda died when i found out i was unable to go to quakecon (this year mabey next) anyhow i dont know much about it and i have 240 dollars in gamestop credit but 150$ is saved. I LOVE fallout (though ive only played a few hours of 3 and more of nv which quests can be a little boring, but i have about 50 hours on fallout) I love doom and quake (except quakelive because i svck at it) and i just got borderlands which i kinda like excpet how there is not much voice acting in fallout and that there are stations to get to the next area. I am only scared that this game wont be that big and have a small main quest with little replayability (much like how brink was fun but it had little things to earn after you level up to 20 on four charecters in a week) I dont know alot about it except for the basics (wingstick, buggies, the background behind the story) so please fill me in about it

This game will probably have 25 GB install size (based on expectations and hints)

I don't think content would run out that fast ...

This is ID Software - i don't see any reason to worry. I think your getting the PC version ? Great idea, because it's cheper and better ofcourse.

the new game from the fathers of the shooters, fathers of doom, quake and wolfenstein.

Which means they have a great potential....

... to be very far behind in various forms of development, along with potential to to produce greatness. I have nothing but respect for the originators of various genres (indeed, Doom and Quake I very much enjoyed), but that doesn't mean that they can produce the best. The game must be judged for itself.

The new trailer is gorgeous.. For those of us that have been following this game well before the zenimax acquisition... or at least for me, its the Tech5 that this is built on that really seems promising- Id hasnt put out a lot in a while, and i should like to think that we know why- theyve been working this engine. as for level design and whats done with that new engine.... I dont think theyve forgotten how to make great levels,., every review also goes on about how interactive the world is. NPC's with depth.. practically no loading within cities and settlements... AI that is as varied as peoples' responses would be in life. I havent been this excvited for a game in some time.. granted i am no computer genius, who is heavily into mods and ultra competitive gaming.. but, i would like to think that ive played a pretty fair share of games in my 33 years, and this is still the greatest thing I've seen in a long time.

i may get it but the guy said it had about 20 hours...I buy games that have alot of replayability (such as the elder scrolls) so now my only concern is that it will be short and it will go back to gamestop for 20$

Yeah the game is 20 hours not counting side quest. And....

+ You can go back to areas to fight enemies( they said you might kill a bunch of ghost clan members in a area and go back and it might be infested with mutants)
+ Side quest will add alot of play time on to the game. I've heard there is going to be ALOT of side quests
+ Racing will be in the game, so that will add more time to the game
+ There is the online Co-op story, that will fill in the blanks for you on some things you hear in the the solo campaign so that will add probably 5-10 hours extra
+ It will probably take you 30 hours to beat the game anyways, most people goof around in games and don't just do story, they go and shoot enemies for fun
+ Killing with you vehicle will be alot of fun, so you'll probably add on 2+ hours just firing with you vehicle when you first get a buggy w/ a machine gun
+ You'll spend time upgrading your vehicle
+ There is gambling in the game, Dice, Cards, and Five Finger Fillet(All can be seen as a somewhat cameo in THE WELL Gameplay Video).

So you'll add on a hefty amount of hours in this game easily dude. There is alot more to do than you expect.
