Engineer Ability Ideas

Post » Sat Aug 06, 2011 8:07 pm

I know this topic has come up a lot but everyone has been saying the turret was weak so i thought i should share my ideas to help strengthen the turret but now to much...

1. Turret Tactical Sensor: Automatically locks on to enemy. The downside is you can only use this ability on light and medium turrets. Also Operatives can control your turret with the ability bought.
2. Increased Turret Damage: The turret damage gets increased by 25%
3. Armor Piercing Turret Ammo: This ammo can Perice through Kevlar vest handed out by engineers or soldiers already wearing it.
4. Increased Turret Health: Now your turret can take 2x more damage then it did before...(health determined by what turret your using)
5. Unlimited Turret Range: The name explains it all... tired of your turret not killing someone far away like on container city? then this is the ability for you!

So what do you think about these ability's? Please let me know in the poll above ^^^ and feel free to share your turret ability ideas

I'm not going to vote on any of them sorry. TBO turrents are working as intended, theyre not supposed to rack up kills, there suppose to be put in pinch points and slow down surging enemies.

I would like to see more gadgets added, an idea i said in another post was
Radar jammer:
Engi can deploy a small/discreet radar jammer, which blocks all rader within certain radius, can be destroyed if found, can be hacked if found.

this kind of thing would have a bigger pay off

radar jammer? you wouldnt even be able find where it is and even if operatives could automatically find it they would have planted another one right after they found it. You wouldnt be to see your [censored] radar if ppl did it lol good idea but ppl would just be putting it all over the place...

and these abilitys are not overpowered at all i thought. More and more ppl are stopping using turrets because everyone knows where all the good turret spots are and all you gotta do is chuck a grenade. there are more ppl using pyro mines, regular mines, Kevlar vests. So these abilitys are just small ideas that arnt over powered at all and they will make them think there better. There good if you get in a firefight atm cause they will finish them off but you gotta stay around them all the time or they will get destroyed...

I see just as many turrets now as i did 2 months ago, and i never said they were over powered, i just don't think turrets need help. The main reason i use turrets is an early warning device, as with mines, i can kill the people easy especially when i know they're coming and which direction from.

i just wanna see new things not additions onto existing

yea the Gatling turret is good the medium is okay the light suks but the point is that the turrets take to long to lock on. there better for on the sideline and when your in a the middle of a fight and they finish them off... but i wish there were some ability's for turrets. because if you walk away from a turret most likely some will chuck a grenade at it and bye bye turret... I at least want the increased health for the turret cause at least one grenade wont kill it...

On the other abilities post, someone mentioned a "roland" style shield that can be deployed with the turret and eat a few nades. This kind of idea would be nice, you can either guard your turret or create some makeshift cover.

The speed of which a turret reacts is crap, but would be better as a game fix, not an ability.

Don't think im downing your ideas or saying theyre [censored], just i think engi's shouldnt have to spend all their points trying to enhance an existing skill, when what would be more creative and new is new abilities all together.

The current game i play HG:G has engis with a platoon of droids/bots, makes them real fun, bomber bot, rocket bot, spider bots, haste bot and a main drone, obviously we cant just go giving engis 20 drones and calling it good but the idea of a mobile turret/bot is cool

well in homefront you can deploy these little vehicles that can drive around and shoot and there not overpowered at all and it takes the same amount of bullets to kill it as a human that would be a cool thing... a drivable turret haha that would be pretty cool

Edit: just like the operative has a UAV engineers could have this

That was me! :celebration: Agreed on CCity i place it in the hole in the fence and enemies slide right through before my turrent can lock on. You can add a turrent onto the UAV in BF:BC2 so maybe something like that could help?

TBO the UAV for me was a skill engi's should have acquired, Op's are supposed to be sneaky, deceiving and ruthless, all this is removed cuz when people see a lil UAV flying around they know theres a OP in the area. Also out of all class's OP and Medics are the ones who need more cool abilities

Can only be detected by anoteher op Iron sighting. what would it do? scan an area for certain enemies? does anyone even use the map? what happend to the blue arrow showing you the way? blow up?
