Is there a reason these trailers are all so low res? I got a sweet display and the trailers just look bad.

First of all this is not a trailer, it's a behind-the-scenes type video.

Second if you want good display the best place is always the Rage site:

And they're that low res because console gamers will get pissed off if they watch PC version trailers in HD with highest graphic settings, becuase in the console it actually does look considerably worse. PC gamers, though, should know that game will look outstanding, so the trailers are to see content, not graphics

Traditionally a 'trailer' was an ad for a movie. These are certainly ads for the game. It's a trailer.

The player on the RAGE site is horrible. It does not know how to maintain the aspect ratio on my 1680x1050 display (no black bars, there should be for 16:9 content).

Lol yeah actually I saw the player on the Rage site doesn't fit well on fullscreen. But it's not horrible, I find that it streams more efficiently than youtube, and I'd know this with a crappy connection.

Anywho it's not like not having a fullscreen HD 1080p video should really make anyone complain, it's the same problem with Batman: Arkham City, but I don't see people complain about it, infact they say the graphics are great. Also if you're a console gamer, tough luck, your display will probably look like these videos, obviously better resolution, but detail still the same.

I have quite a few games. Many of them are head and shoulders above those vids. Metro 2033 is very sweet on my big ass Sony.

I understand they are videos made from the game capture but here has to be some way to give us the actual look the game will have. It's not the videos fault, similar codecs can deliver very fine display. It may be it's not that great ... I dunno. You would think the latest would be prettier than Stalker but they aren't.

Stalker especially with the upgraded textures some modders have added is a very beautiful game and it's old. From my website, well my machine:
