Which would you rather have on your team?

I thought this would make a good debate. Which is it, a teamate that always stays alive and in the fight, or a teamate that does not fight, but keeps the team buffed.

I try to do my best too do both but i am always willing to give my life to revive a teammate. Its the medics job to keep the rest of the team going. Leave the major killing for the soldiers.

as far as i recall this game is not based around kills, and one can gain more xp without having a high kill count

i normally play as a medium soldier. Last night I went in as my level 10 light medic. Stayed behind the lines laying down suppressive fire, and then reviving and buffing after each fire fight. Tons of fun and tons of XP. I see medics get alot of criticism and rightfully so. I think I may stick with my skinny Dr. for a bit amd buck the trend.

It really depends on the battle at hand. TBH, I never really like the medic idea that seems to be a part of every FPS's these days. I prefer the oldschool way of playing where you shoot a guy down and he's done. It is so cheesy seeing teammates throw you syringes so you can magically pop up and finish the battle as if nothing happened...at least make the revived guy come back with half health. The medics (imo) is for those that die alot and have a problem with evading. I always view them as the main reason for producing the "run and gun" gamer. Without the medic players will take their time and think a little more before pretending to be Rambo.

I for one would never want a teammate with a gun and not use it. As long as the medic tries his best at utilizing all his abilities I will have no problem with him/her. My main concern is doing my best to aid the team in completing objectives. I can't really be concern with how others decide to use their weaponry, if their playing style is clearly hindering the team...I'll either politely advise that player or take the battle to another server, I refuse to make a issue over how others choose to play their video games. This is where clans/crews/plattoons/(whatever you want to them) has it's value.

Edit: added a few more...

Uh, you never revive with full health. He can heal you right after, but that's about the extent of it. I've been killed in milliseconds due to poor timing in revival. You really have to get the hell out of there when you JUST get up.
And then whole game was designed around the "run and gun" [read: PARKOUR] concept. If you weren't looking for that, you're playing the wrong game.

Anyhow, this is a class/objective-based shooter... If it didn't have a medic, or SOME way to recover your health, people would rage.

I do both and expect both but more on the side of the Medic doing their job of Reviving and buffing low-healthed individuals rather than running in guns blazing

Seeing as I'm EXACTLY the kind of medic in choice 1, my vote is obvious. I sometimes go a match with only 15-20 kills as a medic, but still bank over 12K XP, because on the occasions I do play as my medic characters, my sole focus is keeping the objective class, be they bot or user alive, and keeping whoever is entrenched in a fire fight upright. I'll hang behind everyone who's firing at the enemy and buff their health once I see it down below 50%, taking a few suppressive shots at the enemy to help push them back from the objective. Majority of the kills I get are against already weakened enemies due to downed team mates. So I pick the stragglers off, then revive whoever's in need. And since I can throw grenades like Dirk Nowitski shoots 3 pointers, I can hit downed team mates with Lazarus grenades from damn near a quarter of the map away. Just the other day defending Shipyard, I had 4 team mates down by the missile controls, all within about 4 meters of each other. I was on the high perch where most snipers scope the controls, and hit all of them with a Laz. I think the lone Operative who was hacking at that moment may have crapped his pants once he saw 4 hostiles all rise from the ground at once...lol.

100% would rather a medic that does his job rather than runs into the fray to get himself killed.

It’s a cheesy feature, or shall I say "done in a cheesy fashion". Let me elaborate, hopefully you'll atleast see from my point of view...

I remember when games didn’t even have health drops…you had to hump it back to the infirmary, or some place that heals you. Now you are allowed to heal by staying elusive for a short amount of time. Ok, I"m cool with that, I/we adapted. But the whole revival thing in games now days kinda cheapens it. It’s a bit too arcade for me. I remember countless times when I (sometimes with another teammate) was holding down a key position from a team of medics. All they did was revive each other (thoroughly), it felt like we were fighting off two teams. But what gets me kinda tight…is when you just drop some dude…while you’re reloading someone throws him a syringe that injects him with some kind of super sauce…putting him back on his feet with the quickness. Not only is this clearly impractical, it routinely makes it unfair…because now the formally down enemy is up with arms and a comrade (with more needles, lol).

Other games have their way of doing this too, but it still looks ridiculous to me. If I lay you down or vice versa…stay down, and respawn back at the camp. I understand how it inspires teamwork but if it’s going to be done do it the right way. Have the medics actually mending the wounded; have him kneeling down besides the downed guy for at least 3-4 seconds. Have him working on the wounded. This will also give the guys watching the medics back protection points (more team work). How hard could that be? It’ll definitely be rewarding…therefore fun, right? As of now…It’s a bit daunting seeing hypodermics flying in from no where… spoiling the prize moments.

This is just my opinion, and for the record I’ve seen the reviving thing done a whole lot worse in other games. I wouldn’t mind if they ditch the class all together and allow each player to carry their own needles (1-2). If you can’t do it right you shouldn’t do it at all. IMO, this class is ruining the true FPS experience…

I like the Parkour idea but unless you are a lite body… the ability mainly gets its shine (and use) thru fast exits and entrances. Having the ability to do simple stuff such as jumping over objects/climbing/sliding should be in every game. I suspect it will soon enough…what will really impress me is seeing some acrobatics/flips in the game….some Lara Croft type ish. Now that's some "Pakour" right there for ur..

I would prefer the Medic to heal and such. I personally do both. I'm not upfront like Rambo, I'm also not in back like...well...a guy whos in back. I'm in the middle, tossing syringes, killing who ever comes near, and since I'm a heavy Medic, I like being close to every member of my team, especially the objective class. Since i'm so close and a fatty, my team gets the added bonus of me being a human shield while they do their jobs.
