What if you have a US account and go out of the country? Is it still locked than?

They go rating approval from germany. There is no real reason left to do that except price, which would be a pretty annoying thing. But as far as i remember one Steam customer service guy told me that if you bought the copy digitally on steam, the game is completely region free but if you bought retail and the game has region lock then even steam enforces it. So I guess depends on what you are getting. Because I got my L4D2 retail and I can only play it in Asia no where else.
