Shall We End This Particular Annoyance?

Have been on the Forums for quite a while now and have noticed a trend whenever someone want something new in the game or complaining about what they expected, half the time they talk about that Trailer. "But a character uses 2 guns in the trailer" "But someone used two machetes in the trailer and killed someone without being noticed or in disguise" for example This trailer talk has got to end, I'm of course talking about the Cinematic trailer NOT the gameplay trailer. Lets discuss shall we?

Now Cinematic trailers are the way to get a crowd hyped about something, it gives a sense of energy and excitement and allows developers to show what their game is 'about' rather than what's 'in' the game. Recent Final Fantasy trailers are a prime example, have any of those trailers with all the Camera angles and flips and defying gravity EVER showed up in actual Gameplay?
I remember seeing the opening to FF8 and seeing this remarkable battle between Squall and Scyther; in the game? "Your turn, oh I've been struck. My Turn..... choose magic....choose....fire yes fire would be loverly....oh but I do have that Ultima spell.." even if you were to simply hammer the Attack Button the battle system was NOTHING like the Cinematic Trailer suggested. But isn't that the whole point? If you wanted to see a gameplay trailer, WATCH a gameplay trailer, it would show you a better representation of the game and you may complain about that all day long. A Cinematic Trailer is supposed to raise hype and get you excited about the concept of the game, NOT be a 100% accurate representation.

Which brings me to Brink's Cinematic Trailer, because I'm tired of seeing "but its in that trailer" for every point raised. Lets watch and point out everything that isn't in the game just to show you why it shouldn't be given as a reason for something to be included, join me won't you?

So we are shown the backdrop of a industrial setting and a Resistance Chappy setting up a Snipering position *STOP* in what level in the game do you ever see a muthaf***ing bridge THAT long that players are crossing? *resume*

He takes out a guy in the shoulder with a bolt-action Sniper rifle *STOP* It would take two shots in the game *resume*

he then gets taken out by a member of Security and his body falls from the post *STOP* One shot from a rifle in the head would only incapp him, why didn't he melee to finish him off like in the game? *resume*

We then follow a Rasta dude shooting a SMG which then gets thrown to the floor *STOP* You can't throw weapons on the floor *resume*

so he can do some parkour over an inconvient and against safety regualtions explosed pipe, he then wall runs and side flips *STOP* Can't Side flip, or any flip for that matter, in the game *resume*

To dodge a rocket *STOP* No rockets or missiles either, getting the point yet? *resume*

afterwhich he pulls two pistols out *STOP* Doesn't happen *resume*

fires three rounds and drops them (how little ammo did the dude have? and what made him think that those 3 shots would have done ANYTHING?), he then rolls over a block and picks up a Grenade Launcher that he couldn't have possibly seen and appears to outright De-Atomize a dude *STOP* as cool as this looked, Grenade Launcher ammo doesn't explode on impact. Also you can't pick up Weapons in the game, ALSO you can't roll *resume*

As Mr. Rasta is reloading we see the Heavy he shot like a murdering dog at cold-blooded point-blank range is a little upset about his attitude and unloads on him with a Large Machine gun, dropping him dead causing Rasta Man (R.I.P) to fire a Grenade into the air *STOP* Even with Downed-Fire you can't choose the Grenade Launcher as your secondary weapon *resume*

This leads to a shot of a Resistance Heavy who is aparently owning and AGAIN throws down his Weapon choosing to use a Shotgun from what seems like too far a distance from his attackers. A Security member see's this outright shocking behaviour towards his commrades and decides to parkour down a roof to get to the Crane controls (Something which I'll allow since the guy is just fancy-falling) He grabs the controls and crushes ONE man with again, against regulation crane-suspended Tank *STOP* Can't do that in the game (and seriously ARK your health and safety is not up to par, sort it out) *resume*

A medium Resistance member who surely has precognitive abilities from looking at the speed he vaults over the tank WITH a molotov in his hand rolls over *STOP* can't roll, remember? *resume*

and makes an impressive throw into the crane controls causing the security member to bail and again roll (....do you need me to stop again for Rolls? Because I'm near a Bakery) safely onto the ground, another Resistance member spots him and gives chase. Security guy then dives *stop*, turns around mid-air *Stop* pulls out two pistols *Stop!* then shoots whilst sliding for a solid 20ft distance on his back *STOP FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP!* Are we getting the hint that maybe this Trailer wasn't in fact a GAMEPLAY trailer? Because in less than 2 seconds this guy has done 5 things you can't pull off in the game, yet it looks AWESOME *resume*

after this feat of pure skill (although not hitting what he was aiming at) he knocks a civilan out of the way *STOP* No NPC Civilians in the game, they would get in the way anyhow *resume*

and after more parkour and outright flooring some poor dude he slides into a closing bomb bunker by the looks of it, all the while shooting and sliding *STOP* whilst you can slide and shoot, you can't slide in one direction and shoot in another, so I'm calling it *resume*

Taking a moment to relax, Mister Sec leans against a wall where two Machetes come out of nowhere thorugh solid 5-inch metal*STOP* Can't duel weld Machetes (or have them) nor at anypoint in the game can you randomly stab them through METAL *resume*

This freaks Mister Sec out somewhat and he backs off, only to get stabbed by Nightcrawler from the X-men I MEAN the Resistance member who only 3 seconds ago stabbed through Metal doors *STOP* Can't Insta-kill in Brink, can't unfortunately become Nightcrawler either *resume*

This aparently wins the day as he heads outside and you can no longer hear gunshots, this also seems to be a Team Deathmatch as not one person in that whole trailer did a Main Objective.... Moving on he takes in the sights only to get shot point blank by a Richie Revolver (I'll allow for the sake of time) The Security Freak then is quite shocked that this guy is the only guy so far to ever be incapped rather than outright die in this trailer so takes his sweet time finishing him off, the Resistance Operative (let's assume) forgetting he had a Cortex bomb or Downed-fire to stop this from happening. ZE END!!

So what does this little exercise prove? It proves When a company makes a Cinematic Trailer, they are making something that is pleasing to watch, not anolyzing every pixel and comparing it to the actual game or asking why certain elements in the trailer aren't in the game. If you want something new in Brink, suggest it by all means, but don't say how it SHOULD be in the game just because of this trailer.

Although if you saw saw something that isn't in the game from a GAMEPLAY Trailer, then B**ch and moan all you like because you may have a point.
