Stuff about seeds.

If you know anything about gardening,

I found a seed, so I got a paper towel, wet the paper towel, and then put the seed on, and put it on a ziploc bag against a window. It turns out, it's trying to grow it's roots in the paper towel. Is this natural? If not, should I move it to a pot outside? Also, corn is rebellious.

That's normal. Don't they teach that in biology/natural sciences/whatever you got where you live these days?
Put it in a pot now that it's sprouting and watch the wonders of Mother Nature.

No, most seeds are content to remain dormant for centuries, only the most rebellious try to become plants.

lol. it is amazing with all of these rules and stuff on the forum. people still find ways to piss you off...
In other news: I believe everyone said that yes, it is time to move it into a pot... it is not the teacher's fault on this one. it is the student.

Seeds will generally sprout once triggered by moisture in their environment, so that's what happened to your seed. They don't possess the sensory ability to detect that they're specifically in soil. I have sprouting trays at my home, and they're perfectly happy to germinate right on the plastic trays in full sunlight.

Some plants do have special additional needs as a means to ensure their survival and propagation... For instance, some seeds won't germinate until they've gone through a cold dormancy period, and some require for the hard outer seed shell to be pierced before the embryo gets to work. See, seeds are fun!

I didn't know this either. We never did anything with seeds in my school. :(
