Saxophone has to be my fav. instrument

Post » Sat Aug 20, 2011 2:55 pm

I think the Sax is one of the most soothing, calming instruments out there. And the sound it makes just ... man it's crazy.

I never even really liked it like that before... but recently I'm finding myself listening to alot of stuff that has Sax's in it. And (don't bash me on this) I was watching MTV and Katy Perry's TGIF song or w/e was on and Kenny G was in the video. I haven't even seen or heard from that dude since I was a wee child.

Now I'm YouTubing the crap outta him! :D

Anyone else love the Saxophone?

Mine would be the piano. I've never had the chance to learn it but if I did then I'd jump at it. My current problem is that I need space which I don't have to have a piano or even just a soundboard somewhere, so if I want to practice at home I first have to buy a house for myself, which is easier said than done at least in these days.

I could just jump into lessons without any way of practicing from home but I don't think I′d learn well that way, the lessons probably wouldn't stick that well and I need to focus on other studies ATM anyway so I hope to start learning how to play the piano when I leave college.

You don't have to look very far to find why I think the piano is such an amazing instrument, you get assaulted by awesome piano play no matter where you go.

And I quite like the sax too, it's definitely on my top 10 list for instruments.

I do like the Saxophone.

I'm learning to play the Bass, and on Friday my teacher went and got me a left handed guitar (our schools only left-handed Bass is electric, and the nearest bass amp was being used) and these kids in the next room were playing sax and the piano. It was really relaxing.

While in the city last year, me and some friends were walking down the outdoors mall, and there was a man playing a http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrHiBrQ46qU&feature=related. We were in awe at this instrument and watched this dude play for a few minutes. It took me ages to find out what it was, and I was bitterly disappointed when I found out that they're nigh on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hang_(musical_instrument)#Obtaining_a_Hang.

Piano, guitar, or violin.

They're versatile enough to be used dozens of ways, but still hold a unique sound all their own. If you listen to some of the bands that use them, you can TELL which band it is, even if you've never heard the song.

I went to a a concert featuring Foreigner, and man, could that saxophonist wail. It was pretty awesome, albeit a bit screechy at times. One song with him was enough.

As far as my favorite instrument, to play it would have to be guitar (although I do enjoy drums), but it's pretty equal between drums and guitar as far as listening goes.

I used to play the saxophone in elementary school. Eventually lost interest though. Favorite instrument? Guitar maybe.

Piano and violin. Those two instruments have spoken to me on a deep level since I was a child, and they still do. I don't play either (or any instruments for that matter) but I'd love to learn.

The human voice.

If it sings alone, its enjoyable.
If it sings with a group its entertaining
Put it with 40 other voices, and you can get something epic.

Absolutely - its my favorite horn instrument. Here's an old school song from the 70s you might like. Has a very prominent (and amazing) sax throughout:

Old Punk Rock from the late 70s with a good sax:

Very old Motown song with a great sax:
