I encourage people from other platforms (PS3, PC) to do the same.
A friend of mine in the L4D forums would occasionally hold community games for the forum members. We spent so much time chatting to one another but had little-to-no experience actually playing together. This kind of divided the community a bit due to a lack of true understanding. Now, I realize that sounds lame... But when we started these games it brought us ALL together and we definitely formed a stronger bond. I was playing with guys who I couldn't stand - but still managing to play well with them. As well, our sense of community encouraged other players to join the forums AND get the game... So we sort of kind of helped the overall community of the game too.
After playing together for so long, a lot of us grew close and started playing together in all sorts of other games (some of us even watched movies together on netflix, as gay as that sounds). I'm hoping to do the same here... We need it. Yes, we're all pretty polite and well-mannered, but we know NOTHING about each other. Not most of us. And a lot of us seem apprehensive about inviting each other to games and such... So I'm going to try to get over my nerves and invite you ALL play.
Basically what I'm hoping this turns into is a way to encourage us to all the meet and greet and just BS in some rounds of Brink. I'm considering holding games twice a week to give everyone a chance to get in on the fun. However, because of my lifestyle (whether my choice or not) it's very hard to devote and games set in stone, so I would like someone to be able to host them too (preferably someone from the East coast for better connection with our friends across the pond). Eventually, we won't have to rely on these games to get together. It shouldn't take long due to the nature of this game though... Once we're all buddy-buddy, we can start playing some serious matches against each other with preferred teammates or just make up our own community games (knife only, no medics, etc. etc.) and see how it all works out. And hopefully we can share knowledge and tactics with each other, and then to the non-forumers.
I wish the two forums (bethesda and SD) would combine though, they divided their community with that and I don't feel like joining two forums for the same game... We'd have more to work with.
So, what do you all think? Think we should go ahead and do it? If you all agree to this, throw me a friend request on Xbox (my gamertag is as it is here: L00fah with two zeroes). We'll see where this takes us.
I'm also going to post a link here to the Xbox Gamertag thread, so we can add a ton of people and see if we can get them more active with us too... So if you haven't already, post up your name and stuff there please.
List (which definitely needs updating): http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1192436-xbox-community/
AND NOW THE SCHEDULING!! The times I put are merely approximations. I don't want this to turn into a chore, so we'll start games whenever we're ready and when we feel we've gathered all we can. So expect the time to be within the hour posted (which is why I won't bother putting it at half-past ever). So if I post something like 8:00pm, expect it to start somewhere between 7:59 and 9:00pm.
The first scheduled game will be a bit of ways off to get more of us xboxers on board AND time for me to gather most of your GTs, as well, to give room for any compromising I may need to do. Keep in mind, this is an experiment and I need feedback to make this process work smoother.
::SCHEDUUUUUULE!::
First game- 5:00pm Saturday, August 27
