Another old school game makes a return, but will it make

Post » Wed Aug 24, 2011 3:05 pm

I saw in Game informer XCOM is going to make a return, as a shooter style type you will have a base where you can choose missions, and do R&D on the alien tech. There still is a team of agents you can pick an upgrade as you progress. I don't know what to think yet with this new version, thought to be a prequel, but I can admit I spent hundreds of hours playing the old X-COM an might still play it if there was a updated for Win7 and a multi core cpu.

What do you guys think?

I think it's fantastic. I've been dying to play a shooter and I just don't know where else to get my fix.

Aren't there any other genres besides FPS that they could use to remake a game? I remember when they were going to make a Shadowrun game but it wound up being an Unreal Tournament clone with a rudimentary Magic system. If anything I would think of XCOM as a game better suited for an RTS.

What's next, an open world FPS with RPG style character improvements and weapon upgrades version of Pac-Man?

Remake of pong, solitaire or chess as an FPS. Just you wait... Everyone wants to shoot the six of clubs...

Yeah... but after Omega Strain? I just don't want it to go through any more domestic abuse.

Ack, an FPS? Won't get it.

That game was great for my micro managing style of play because of it's perspective and turn based system.

Shoot, combat was pretty much like the Avalon Hill bookshelf games of yore, and good ol' Charlie Company as well! Loved it!

Sigh, X-com was the first computer game that I played sun-up to sun-up.....

Mentioning that game is worse than mentioning Lord Voldemort.
