Warhammer 40k(not fantasy)

Post » Mon Aug 29, 2011 10:05 am

I just downloaded the demo for 40k Space Marine and it was a ton of fun. I want it, but I don't think it's really worth a full $50, it seems like an arcade game.

Anyone play the 40k series?

Not sure how far do you mean 40k series. There are plenty table top 40k as well as DoW fans in this forum.

I've played the Dawn of War series, the first one was epic, the second one was ok.

I play Warhammer 40k from time to time. I've never played any 40k video games though. I will get around to downloading the demo for Space Marine, but I don't think it looks like it'd be worth $50-$60... I might get it when the price drops, but then there would be the problem of nobody playing online anymore.

Maybe I'll rent this one, if I enjoy the demo.

I don't really get the series. There is like a buhzillion different games coming out all the time, and I don't know where to start.

Are there any RPG elements to the game and is the Demo available on XBL?

It's an action game, and I believe so.

Yeah, someone on another forum described it as sort of like Gears of War crossed with God of War.

As for 40k..... never played any of the video games. But I do have two 40k armies (Chaos Marines & Guard), several Space Marine/Epic 40k armies, and a number of fleets for Battlefleet Gothic. Gathered over 20+ years.... whee! (not that I've played any of those games recently. :sadvaultboy:)

It's going to be a rental. The game itself coming off as cheesy to me personally and unremarkable as a action game to me if it wasn't set in the 40kverse. I just wish that someone would make a half way decent [A]RPG revolving around as a member inquisition exploring the setting instead of a focus on the space marines that they so often get. As it stands now I will stick to the novels for now not caring for any of the video games released thus far.

That could be cool, just so long as it was not released as a "Dawn of War" sequel.

(Although... In Warhammer, the troops take a beating and get killed a lot... So would that mean that the RPG would incorporate a cloning/immortality aspect ~Similar to Planescape, in a way?)

I've played some Dow if that's what you mean. I have tried the tabletop once.
