Disappointed with hrs of gameplay

Let me start by saying I read this article somewhere a few days ago and now I can't find, I'd like to put a link sorry.

Anyway I read this phone interview where a journalist talked with someone on the dev team. They were talking all about rage of course and I was very excited until..... Until the topic of gameplay hrs came up. They were asked what can we expect to see when it comes to how long this game will take us. I was expecting something like 35-40 hrs and then many more if you did side missions, and I wasn't even considering the endless hours of exploring. Well I didn't exactly get that answer. The dev employee went on to say and I quote " it's an easy 15 hrs and maybe up to 25 if you do everything." wow! I really hope they are talking about main missions. I really don't think so because they said they did not want to make the typical 4 hr game that we usually see these days.

I don't know maybe I'm worrying about nothing. Well maybe there is hope. Look at fallout 3, you can run through the main story line pretty quick if you wanted to and I easily put in endless hours just exploring the wasteland. I end this post now because I know I'm all over the place, I'm just honestly shocked from the answer. I'll insert the link if I find it.

Found it!

It's in here about halfway down. Let me know how you take this. What did you get from what he was saying?

Well, if you thought Rage as a RPG, then you may be disappointed. But Rage is basically a first person shooter with light RPG elements. It's more like Bioshock (which has 13~15 hours of campaign) than Fallout 3.

And Rage is supposed to have very focused exprience. I've beaten Fallout 3 three times and each playthrough took me about 50 hours. But I think I spent like 20 hours on just moving A to B (with a few enemy encounters), 5 hours on conversation with NPCs, another 5 hours on picking up items and sorting inventory. I'm not saying these are bad things, But in FPS game, you want faster, more combat-centric experience. And that's what id Software is doing with Rage.

Well he said 15-18 hours but I've gotten way off estimates before although not really an rpg there is exploation which can easily add time on top of how you play for all we know he's talking of QA people on a deadline so they'd be rushing. I'm really not to worried about it Dues ex was supposed to be 20 hours it took me a little over 30 and I still missed stuff, even if its only 18 hours thats a decent amount of time.

I do get that. 18 hrs for a FPS is pretty nice but for some reason I thought it would be way more. It does have some rpg elements to
It. That's what made me think it may be longer. You can go exploring and probably spend a few hours doing that I'm sure. Maybe it's just not as much exploring as I'd hoped. I get a little confused because I hear it a fps but then I hear you can roam around, pick up side missions and collect scraps
Anyway thanks for the input. Bottom line not matter what type of game it will be I think it'll still be insane

This is a true first person shooter, and its going back to the roots of 15-20 hours of gameplay. And I must say I'm happy that its this long so i can get my moneys worth. Also Having 35-40 hours of gameplay would be to much and it bother me, but thats my opinion. I like a good first person shooter with 15-20 hours and with side missions, slight RPG elements, and replayability, which RAGE is supposed to have all so this is the perfect game, but again, this is my opinion.
