State Your Dream Games

Post » Sun Sep 04, 2011 4:11 am

A game centering around a swampy region, where there are only two villages. The main focus of the game is the conflict between the two groups of villagers, the werecreatures, vampires, and the swamp itself. The first village is a typical Transylvanian village, plopped into a swamp oppressed by a vampire baron with a legion of undead and kinsmen on his side. The second village is populated by cultists of a werewolf, that sacrifice travellers. The vampires are led by the baron of a castle on a tall hill, and there are only 20 in total. However, they have hundreds of undead, skeletons, wraiths, and other monsters. The werecreatures consist of wererats, wereboars, werewolves, werebats, werebears, and werecrocs. They fight amongst each other as often as the other factions.

The main character is a vampire hunter, who was banished by his/her village to walk the swamps, after s/he was framed for the murder of the Captain of the guard. S/He encounters the cultists first, who attempt to capture and kill him/her. A vampire attacks, and s/he kills it, so the cultists worship him/her as if s/he had the blood of a werewolf, to slay a vampire. Throughout the story, the hero can change alignment with all the factions, killing several vampires or undead will make the villagers like him/her more, and werebeasts will eventually leave him/her alone, depending on their aggressiveness.

The main character does not have any magic, however, and only starts with a crossbow and a dagger. The only form of magic is from killing witches, who hold wands. The witches are powerful mini-bosses, and the wands are limited use, but very powerful.

The main goal of the main character is to slay the vampire baron, and all his kinsmen. The baron is unassailable as long as all the other vampires live, and the witches need to be killed to obtain a certain object from all of them to weaken the barriers to his room. The castle could be thousands of room large, and the swamp could be as big as Skyrim.

I could write a book on it, because I think about different ideas it could work with whenever I'm bored. But I'd probably explode the forums if I tried that...

A large open cyberpunk game. Think Fallout 3 but in a cyberpunk metropolis instead of a wasteland.

Could go more indepth with various factions and stuff I think should be there, but meh, this will do :P

A catgirl RPG that combines giant mechs, high fantasy, gratuitous nudity, over-the-top combat, ridiculous weapons, enjoyable ...physics, seamless transition between ranged, melee, and magical combat, lots of badguys to bash, and plenty of days to save.

It lacks cute naked catgirls with over-the-top weaponry. But it does look awesome. I need a replacement for my dated Mechwarrior 4 and Earthsiege 2 games. Why did the genre have to die?

Actually, I have a much deeper idea for a "Dream Game" that ditches the anime influence (That I didn't even notice I put in there) entirely.

A game set in the Early Middle Ages of Europe. In terms of genre, a cross between action RPG and 4X. Something like crossing Crusader Kings with Morrowind.

Arcanum 2. That's pretty much my dream game. A sequel to my favorite game of all time. If I ever strike it rich, I'll spend millions trying to make it happen, I don't care how much I lose from it.

Well, it's the game that I would attempt to make assuming I had the talent and that it were actually a decent idea (jury's still out on that last one), so lots of details to follow.

A story driven bullet hell http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoot_%27em_up with an alternate history background. Set in a dystopian future where the vast majority of the world is united as one nation at the mercy of a militaristic monarchy (formerly the Empire of Japan), ruled by none other than the God Emperor and his "family" (i.e. his head generals). The Empire rose to power after remains of an advanced alien civilization were discovered at the onset of World War II. It facilitated the creation of highly advanced weaponry, mostly aircraft and mecha, that rendered resistance futile in the following campaign to conquer the globe.

Fast forward a hundred years or so (God Emperor still alive and well, as are the rest of the family) and memory of a time before the Empire has been wiped clean. However, a small resistance that had evaded the Empire until now managed to intercept a supply convoy. Among the spoils was a prototype plane that was many times more capable than the Empire's aging fleet (which consisted of the same hardware used in their initial campaign). Blah blah blah, main character pilots it, single-handedly takes on the Empire, etc.

Gameplay consists of your typical http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wotZMGkR_0M, vertical scrolling of course. Unlike most shmups it would be story driven with a dialogue trees and some cutscenes. Stages would feature multiple paths depending on the decisions the player makes, how boss enemies are dealt with and simply what path they choose when given an option. All sorts of powerups, crazy planes and giant mech bosses, wild bullet patterns that fill the screen, etc. Bosses for each stage would be the generals, leading up to a showdown with the God Emperor himself. It'd be longer than your average shmup in terms of actual gameplay, perhaps around 10 hours or so. To appease traditional STG fans there would be an Arcade Mode, which would remove all story elements and present the player with a number of stages on a set path.

So, yeah. There's my terrible idea. :P Takes a lot of inspiration from Treasure's shmups Radiant Silvergun and Ikaruga, though I'd like to think the similarities more of a homage than a rip off.

Of course, a free roam sci-fi RPG with millions upon millions of hours worth doing.

Also, a WW1 FPS game :P

The world needs more 4X games in general.

Ever play Iron Storm? it was similer, but an alternate reality, also there was an excellent WW1 Half Life mod. also Necrovision, which was kind of like Wolfenstein but set during WW1. Other than that, its pretty barren.

An open world game set in modern day Africa.

There would be three major cities in three major regions.

The cities would be based on Cape Town, South Africa in the sub-Saharan region, Kinshasa, DR Congo in the central jungle highlands and Cairo, Egypt in the northern desert region. There would also be plenty of tropical islands off the coast.

There would be plenty of small villages spread across the map as well.

There would hundreds of vehicles to steal or buy:
Cars: anything from high speed sports cars to trucks to 4x4's

Boats: from small tin boats to massive cruise ships.

Aircraft: passenger jets to choppers.

There would be plenty if region specific animals.

It would be played out in 3rd person.

Havnt decided on a story yet...

It would be made by rockstar and look similiar to Red Dead Redemption.

a rpg, sort of bgs rpg style, that combines magic and futuristic science fiction with a theme for anarchy. with a huge game world that expands to several planets that you can visit, each one having a map size at least 10 times as large as oblivion map. with massive amount of weapon and armor variety.

I don't expect to meet that game any time soon, but a game like that is literally my dream game, as I once had a dream about such a game.

A current Fallout not on Gamebryo

A zombie apocalypse RPG thats more focused on survival and keeping your home town safe (Maybe a walled town or something of the kind) Imagine with the free roam aspect of Fallout 3/NV along with being able to fashion armor made from what you find. Etc.

This. In fact I've seen so many people who want this game that it boggles the mind that it's not been made. 1st person zombie RPG. :sadvaultboy:

I also wanted a Star Trek RPG but sadly now they've made Online (which I don't like - would have if not for the ship/EVE aspect of it) I doubt they'll do that. Plus Star Trek games sort of look to be done. :(
