I realize this is the HR thread, but I'd really like to play the first game. Does anyone know of some mods to max out the first game's graphics?

HDTP is pretty good. It's the only one that I know of. I don't think they have worked on it in a while though.

http://www.moddb.com/mods/deus-ex-new-vision. It improves pretty much all world textures.

It also comes with the latest version of the DirectX10 renderer someone made, which makes the graphics a bit better too.

There's also HDTP which is going to replace objects and NPCs, but it's not finished yet. ETA is 'coming soon'. That has been the ETA for the last 3 years or so. But apparently there is still something going on there. So hopefully some time in 2012.

There's a http://www.moddb.com/mods/project-hdtp/downloads/hdtp-release-1. It doesn't replace a whole lot, but some of the objects it does replace are very common (supply crates) so it's worth installing.

Just finished the game; I'd say its good, but story's not quite up to Deus Ex standard. The only real twist and turn in the plot seemed to be the lack of twist and turns.


Worth buying, but will we be talking about it a decade later like Deus Ex? No.

I think the only reason we're talking about it a decade later is because HR came out.

Deus Ex still regularly appears high in top 100 lists, and is still regularly spoken about as one of the greatest games of all time. Its also that greatness that lead to a lacklustre sequel, and this okay game

I think I'm about 3/4 through the game and just now got an loading screen with the tip that you can walk slowly towards mines and disarm them :facepalm:
Up until then I always shot them or threw a box at it.

On a different note, I read the games sales chart (no separate charts for all the platforms) in the Dutch newspaper yesterday (Algemeen Dagblad):
1 Deus Ex Human Revolution (PS3)
2 Deus Ex Human Revolution (xbox360)
3 Deus Ex Human Revolution (PC)

It should be noted that apart from WoW and such, pc games rarely make it in the top 5 of that chart.
