Edgar Allan Poe : Othor Games

I've read probably about 5 of his works, but I can't remember them. Heard Tell Tale Heart done on the radio; that was pretty intense.

But

My most recent favorite Poe moment came from Dr. Doofenshmirtz in Phineas and Ferb: (Hear's tapping on the window) "Is it that pesky raven again!"

My favorite poem of Poe's is "Annabel Lee".
A while back, I printed a miniature book using that poem, with hand set type, green ink, and done on a hand operated antique letterpress.
It was a fun project:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tell-Tale_Heart is the only poem I've came across by him and that was through my English class in 1st year, my class had made a short play/film as part of our learning but mostly just to keep use interested, the film we made actually won a small award of some sort and my name was in the credits :celebration:

Was it basically a reenactment of the short story? Did it have a modern twist?

Sort of modern twist, there was no real acting as far as I can remember.

I read Poe first in French, with the admirable translation of Baudelaire. I then read it in English and, not because French is my language, but rather because of Baudelaire, this is a rare case where the translation is superior to the original.

Baudelaire magnified it, made the language lighter, more figurative. I tend to agree with Pseron Wyrd. His poems are interesting but they are not master pieces to the contrary of his short stories. I will disagree with him on the lack of links with his contemporary writers. He has a lot to do with people like Baudelaire or Mallarme for example. You could also link him with Oscar Wilde and his picture of Dorian Gray. This is not only the fantastic themes but a general style, atmosphere which could have been very well initiated by the first german romantics like Novalis
