Gears of War 3. ORLY?!

1st thing I see when I cut my X360 on this fine morning. I laughed SO hard... so very hard seeing this.

NOW, this is from GameInformer's poll about which game you're most anticipating. Was GoW3 even ON the list? NOPE.

Obviously each site has it's own fan base who votes on different stuff. Don't expect a poll asking which is better: random game X or random TES game Y, having any other clear winner than TES Y on these boards for example.

Gears 3 is an Xbox exclusive, of course they're going to say that it's the most anticipated game. It's called advertising.

New Saints Row. New Zelda. New Elder Scrolls! Amalur coming in spring. Spoiled for choice. If you had asked me a year ago, I would have said Mass Effect 3 without hesitation. Now I am struggling to care at all.

I've never been interested in the Gears series, so not at all anticipated for me.

Of course it's all generalized hype. I mean, I'm anticipating Trine 2. I can guarantee not many people are anticipating that.

Always take polls with a grain of salt. No one site could honestly tell you what is the most anticipated game. I'm willing to wager that most gamers don't even go on these site often, much less participate in a poll. In the end, sales numbers will tell you the real truth.

I think that quote about it being the "Most Anticipated" game is based on the number of pre-orders.

Gears of War has almost 2 million pre-orders for Xbox alone.

By contrast, Modern Warfare 3 has about 1.5 million pre-orders for Xbox and PS3 combined (PC retail / PC digital download pre-orders not published).

Skyrim has currently about 580,000 pre-orders for Xbox and PS3 (PC retail / PC digital download pre-orders not published)

I never understood why people care about these kind of lists. They're not saying anything about the games themselves, other than how well it'll be selling in the beginning.

im not surprised since it is the 360s only real exclusive this year (retail wise), but dark souls is my personal most anticipated game of 2011 (thank god its coming to the 360 this year).

It comes to no surprise that Xbox would be promoting an exclusive, so what's your point? Gears is going to be one of the best selling games this year and might even be on top for a while.

Why are PS3/Nintendo exclusives on this list by GameInformer... but not GOW3? One of your alledged "best selling" series... why wouldn't it be on there? Don't get it...

I like GOW. And I know alot of people that also do... and THEY still don't think it's the "Most Anticipated". To me it's not about sales... it's about word of mouth.

Game informer is not the be all end all of gaming, I am willing to bet GOW 3 outsells a fair share of those games.

I find it weird how the top 5 are also my most anticipated games of this year. In the same order too :teehee:

All sites have different fan bases and scales.

OXM has there’s with Modern warfare at #1 Followed by gears ext. All sites/articles are different.

Why would you say "wtf" with batman? Did you play the other one? It was a very good game; I have huge hopes for the new release of Batman.
Uncharted 3: Is one of the anticipated games on the Ps3. I played #2 and loved it.

I've always felt that you can't make a list about how people feel about something and have everybody agree. I personally disagree with Rotten Tomatoes saying that the best movie ever is the Godfather, its a damn good movie, but i wouldn't consider it the best. These sort of things are all about perspective, Gears of War 3 is my most anticipated game right now, don't show a list that gives other peoples opinions as proof. The only thing that will hold any water in this sort of discussion is facts and one of the facts is that Gears of War 3 is currently the most pre-ordered game in the US.

I am actually surprised that gears 3 is even anticipated. I know a lot of people like it, but playing through the first two games didn't really get my blood boiling, and the online was way too slow. And I have only met one person in person that actually loved the game. everyone else said it was ok, and they would get it when the price drops.
