The highly anticipated title will supposedly run on an extremely powerful engine, hinted as looking ”eye-destroying” by the publication – the beefy visuals will be enhanced by a new C++ scripting language supporting a massive increase in detail and graphical fidelity.
John Carmack recently confirmed with Gamasutra that Doom 4′s single-player component will run at 30FPS, with multiplayer supporting silky smooth, 60FPS visuals.
”In the Doom 4 project, we decided Doom 4 Multiplayer will run at 60 frames per second, while the single player is 30 frames per second, so you can have twice as many demons coming at you.”
During an interview with Gamespot at E3 2011, Carmack cryptically revealed that once RAGE ships to retail outlets, the highly talented development team will ramp up production on Doom 4 – ensuring the title avoids a lengthy, RAGE-like development process. Check out the rumor below and in the latest issue of Xbox World magazine, available now.
”Talking of eye-destroying engines, what are id doing now that RAGE is about to ship? DOOM 4, that’s what. Don’t expect it for this gen though. It’ll be Xbox Next for sure.”
We have to wait until 2013 to play? I think my head will explode from so much waiting!!
