Favorite "The Legend of Zelda" game?

Post » Tue Sep 20, 2011 3:57 am

I read the article about The Legend of Zelda's history and it's upcoming Skyward Sword in the October issue of GameInformer, and boy did that history lesson bring nostalgia!

What was your favorite Zelda game? Are you looking forward to Skyward Sword?

My favorite has to be a toss up between Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, or Wind Waker.

I am not anticipating Skyward Sword but I have a Wii so I do not see why not get it in the distant future

Same here, but if I had to pick one...OoT probably. And I am looking forward to Skyward Sword, I have it pre-ordered at my GameStop.

The only Zelda games I've played are the original Legend of Zelda, A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Twilight Princess and I like them all for very different reasons, though I havn't played them in number of years. If you really twisted my arm about it I would probably say Ocarina of Time was my favorite. In regards to Skyward Sword, I can't honestly say that I'm looking forward to it.

I have beaten every Zelda game and my favorite is Ocarina, closely followed by Majora's Mask and A Link to the Past.

I voted for A Link to the Past. Never really played the Game Boy Color, N64, or Wii Zelda games. Why not the two for N64? Because I was playing computer games that generation.
Parallel World's is also good.

I've only played Wind Waker, and I have yet to beat it. It is still my favorite childhood game though. I actually bought a copy, and played it on the Wii, but then the Wii got stolen, so I never finished it.

The Legend of Zelda was the first game I tried at my cousin's house (way, way, way, way, way back in the day... my god I'm old) and it was the first time I'd seen a NES. I played it for fifteen minutes and was hooked. Playing that game, I experienced my first "Most Favorite Thing of My Entire Life" experience.

After that I only played The Adventure of Link, A Link to the Past, The Ocarina of Time, and the Wind Waker (for the GBC). I loved them all (even The Adventure of Link).

Fond, fond memories of those games. All five that I played are my favorites.

The Oracle games, with Link's Awakening DX as a close second. I don't like the 3D Zelda games.

A Link to the Past, easily.

And unlike a lot, I don't really care for Ocarina of Time much. I enjoyed Wind Waker and Twilight Princess much more than Ocarina of Time.

OoT (though I'm liking the 3DS version more), Majoro's mask, and Twilight Princess are my favorites. I would look forward to Skysword, but I don't have a Wii.

So many Zelda games I haven't played. I would say my favorite is Link to the Past; I never really understood the worship directed at Ocarina of Time. It's not a bad game by any stretch, but it doesn't seem to me to do anything better than LttP did (and some things worse), and at times disappointed me with its extreme easiness.

Link's Awakening was my first, and still remains my favorite. What sort of kids game makes the kid wonder if defeating the bad guy is the right thing to do?

I'm still in the opinion that it was all a dream, even if I didn't die and got the extra ending.

Indeed, that tune has always stuck with me.

Poor, THIEF. Kills off an entire island of people just to get stuck on a floating piece of driftwood with nothing in sight.(And it did occur. The windfish shows up in the ending after you've awoken him) Consider it in TES terms. If the godhead somehow woke up, does that make the now nonexistant inhabitants worthless if they were all just delusions?

The Wind Waker is my favorite and Skyward Sword looks like the best Zelda yet. The setting (which is apparently inspired by Miyazaki's Laputa), the art direction, item upgrade system, etc. It looks amazing.

I love every LoZ I've ever played, but honestly. Ocarina of Time will always be my rose tinted nostalgia goggles. I mean, even today, I could play it and note it still as cool today as it was in '98, which is rare for games almost 12+ years old.

Yep. There's something really magical about that game for me. I wouldn't get the same effect playing any of the newer ones these days, so I'm not really looking forward to the new one
