steam messages about account

Sorry for the haste, but I'm on my mobile and I've received 10 emails that my account is trying to be accessed from another computer - is this legit or spam?

EDIT: Forgive the lack of capitalisation in the thread title, I was on my mobile.

Who is the e-mail from? Does it look professional or just like some ordinary trouble-maker would write? I use Hotmail for e-mail, so it's kind of hard to find the e-mail address (it doesn't show on Hotmail or something; I can never find it). If you can't find who it's from (be sure the e-mail is not actually the subject), then click "reply" and it should show it to who you are replying to. Also, 10 e-mails seems a bit suspicious.

Steam will never ask for your password - remember that. Just go onto steam when you get home and change your password via the official steam store

You could try contacting Steam Support and ask them what's going on and if they're sending you any emails.

I wish Steam would let me change my password, but every time I try it tells me that it is unable to be processed at this time. It's been like that for months.

If you have Steam Guard, it prevents your account being used from another IP address without email confirmation. Most likely someone has your Steam password, but they won't be able to log in without your email account. (in other words, don't click those email links or they will have your account)

That e-mail looks legit to me. Definitely change your password. As Narmy mentioned, Steam will send you a confirmation code the first time you use it from a new IP address to confirm that you have access to the e-mail account. I get them every once in a while.

Steam guard was on. I've changed my password now using Keepass.

I don't normally take any notice of these sort of emails, but since I received 10 emails, all from the same legit looking email address, and an official looking email presentation, I got a bit worried, especially since we're talking about real money here.

That is the message you get when you try to access your account on a new computer (steam guard blocks access until verified with the code in that e-mail).

It's almost impossible to tell whether an e-mail is legit or a scam but in the end it does not matter much. Don't ever respond to an e-mail that you yourself didn't request, and change your steam password as there is a good chance that it is compromised.
