People you never met, that had an impact on your life.

The death of Steve Jobs made me realise just how much his idea's have affected people around the world, while i myself have never owned an apple product i can recognise the impact he has had on many people, they miss him though they never met him and feel they had some kind of a link to him.

So the purpose of this thread is really to ask you guys whether there is any person you know of but have never met that has had a rather large impact on your life (hopefully a good one).

For my own part i'd like to put forward a man called Jim Henson, he was and still is pretty famous even 20 years after his death, but just in case you never heard of him he was a puppeteer that had an absolutely huge impact on my life when i was a child, he made the muppets, sesame street, fraggle rock and was a writer for such wonderful films such as The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth.

As a 9 year old boy i went to see my first ever cinema film and it was labyrinth, 90 minutes or so later my friend and i walked out of the cinema as if in a daze, such was the magical journey we had just been through that it felt as if we had come back from another world, we talked about it for weeks after.

Here is a link to a documentary on youtube entitled "the World Of Jim Henson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjw7bFM8zPM&feature=results_main&playnext=1&list=PL95B3E2DC063FF69B

His puppets and the worlds he made up in his head greatly affected me and his death still saddens me though i never met him, who has affected your life that you have never met?
