Steam UK release.

Any chance some nice person from ID or Bethesda could give steam a nudge and actually release at midnight rather then 1am?

Hopefully brits can calmly figure this out without going into a proverbial Rage. I've got my cup of coffee next to me, a delicious pizza and some cans of coke, and ready to figure this mofo out tonight and play it.

No sleep till Rage.

I'm going to try a completely clean start first with none of the new drivers, just to see what happens. I would actually kind of recommend that seeing as some of the drivers seemed to make things worse. I have a fairly old (not ancient, last year's generation) ATI gfx card, and so far it looks like Rage is a little nicer on those.

sounds like a master plan for a raster man. i have a 5850 xtreme have you heard anything performance wise from that? also i read to just allow the game to scan the hardware installed as the engine is designed to run at 60fps and the scan sorts everything out to make that so( i think thats why we have no options for graphics etc)

Also on my case the back says this game is enhanced for DirectX10 which is weird cos i thought this game was created with openGL in mind

EDIT: im fairly new to PC gaming and wanna know what all this Config file is and where do i get it from, where do i put it etc cheers.

It doesn't, the engine so far seems to fail at setting things properly, sometimes it thinks you have 0mb video memory, so it chooses all the lowest resolution textures. That's what the cfg fix is for.

OpenGL is a graphics library, DirectX handles a lot of other things (sounds probably, controls, other stuff).

The config settings are custom flags you set to force certain things like what textures to load, whether to use mouse acceleration, anisotropy, etc. I think there's a sticky thread about it.

Initially I'll start it up to see what it does and for it to create what ever config files it needs. Then I'll edit the config using the info from that link.

You should probably force the 8k textures I guess. Honestly I'm not bothered even if it turns out I can't get the crispest textures, I'm just in the mood for a good FPS after playing a ton of crap recently. My card has 2807MB of memory according to dxdiag, so I'm going to try forcing the 16k ones if I can. I just hope the game runs in the first place since I have ATI.

yes i will try the 8k cos anything less judging by those screens in the link it looks a bit rubbish. i really hope it loads for me to. also my card has 2.7GB of memory but only 1GB dedicated hence why its a 1GB card.

I'm using a 5850 1gb but running at higher clock speeds. Its my aging Q6600 processor that may be a problem. Its running at 3ghz though.
