After having hands-on with Rage first hand, do you think the id Tech 5's Mega Texture technology was worth it?

RAGE is having a ton of technical issues that will be solved soon through driver and game updates, I think it's hard to say anything useful about id Tech 5 right now.

I thought MegaTexture was meant to lend itself towards intelligent streaming and paging of high-resolution assets... it seems like despite the 20-odd gigabytes of textures that Rage shipped with, none of them are particularly high resolution?

Some people got very high resolution textures in their game so they must be here.

I guess my PC just doesn't want to display!

Given id's reputation with game engines I think the technology is definitely going to be used in the future, but only after John Carmack and his team of code monkeys finish ironing out the technical issues the engine is having.
