I was on a quest. following the mini maps dotted line, lead me to a location where I had to zone in. After zone in.. mini map is gone and im left in a large location. Is this normal? maybe my games broke. why would i have a map leading me to the location,, then no map when I get there...

It's like that when the game wants you on foot shooting enemies, or just in town in general.
