I may have ruined myself just now

I've now made the same mistake for both Rage and Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

The other night I loaded up Rage to exactly the same spot in both 360 and PC versions, then swapped my TV between them, PC looked so much better/sharper/nicer it was sad. Now I just did it with Deus Ex on PS3 and PC a moment ago and it was at least as dramatic, if not moreso.

So why did I do this? I was satisfied with how both the 360 Rage and PS3 DX were looking before I did it. Why did I even get console versions of those two games? because both games were choppy as HELL on my PC when they were first released. I even kind of bought that PS3 because of the Deus Ex incident. I wanted to play that game bad, huge fan of the series, and the way it was running night 1 on my PC inspired in some part, though not completely, the purchase of the PS3, my new TV, etc.

I'm glad I have the TV regardless because it's pretty badass to run PC games through it with this 25 foot HDMI cable I have running across my ceiling. Works so well. And I can sit back on my bed and play games with either 360 controller for PC, or wireless keyboard + wireless trackball (trackball has it's advantages, not sure I'd want to wrestle with a mouse and it's need for space and a certain type of surface on a bed)

Anyway... both games are running on my PC so much better now than they did the nights of their respective releases so I think there's 1 of 2 lessons to be learned here:

Either:

1) I need to be more patient and give PC games a week or more to get with the program

2) Game companies need to stop using their playerbase as a very large, very unpaid beta testing force without telling them that's what they're going to be used as. Releasing demos is good too.
