Why do all the guns sound almost exactly the same and they all have that terrible high pitched screeching sound to them. Plus there's no change to the sound or look of the blast when you change ammo types which seems kinda lazy on the devs part. I think the weapons designs and amount of detail look slick as hell but they sound like some sort of high pressure water blaster which just doesn't fit with the way they look at all. They should take the sound effects from Dues Ex HR and apply them to the guns in Rage, then they would sound as bad a s s as they look.

What kind of sound system are running. I am set up pretty nice and the guns sound awesome. Sound is bigger than graphics for me so if I fealt the way you do I'd be pist. The guns are post apocalyptic and have probably been pieced together so I can imagine what you are hearing is supposed to be there. When I'm wearing headphones I can really really tell the difference in ammo types. Also I have to say the shotgun is very cool. I love how it feels, ID SOFTWARE sure knows how to make a nice shotgun.

Maybe it's just me but I have no complaints about this game. Although I may be speaking way too soon because I hear the ending is screwed but overall it's perfect. Compared to most games released today Rage is at much higher standards then anything out.

It's nothing to do with my TV the effects sound exactly the same on my friends and in game videos. I just think the gun sound effects they choose to use sound terrible.

Not sure where your sound issues are coming from, but every weapon and many ammo's have unique sounds. Plus, no matter whether I use built-in sound (Realtek) or a sound card (ASUS Xonar-DG), the weapon sounds are crisp clear and proper.

The weapons sound great! The shotgun is especially satisfying
