So after seeing on these forums that players spent anywhere from 10-20 hours playing Rage (10 if you blitzed through the story, 20 if you did pretty much everything), I went and picked up the game, since I am a bit of a completionist and 20 hours sounds good to me! However, trying to find every mission, playing the card game, doing races, exploring each area in depth for cards and extra ammo, I am 3 hours in and it would seem (based on the guide) that I am 40-50% done with the game. WTF?! I mean don't get me wrong, I figure some later missions might be longer than the ones I'm doing now, but as it stands I get the impression this game really isn't as long as I was led to believe (both by reviews, which exaggerate, and by players, who I guess left their game on while they went and made dinner or something).

So how did it take you to beat Rage, and how much of the side things did you stop to do?

I'm 16 hours in and have at least 3 more main storyline missions.

You must have missed a ton of stuff. What part are you on.

that's really good to hear... I hope it opens up near the end some. Did you spend a lot of time just playing cards or gambling? Or were you always actively doing side quests/main missions?

I just got the special truck that the sheriff wanted me to get for his mission (Curbino or something like that). I also have the mission from the mayor to go and explore the crater that the bandits are making crap in. According to the guide on IGN (just checked to see how far I was) that's like 40% of the way through the game, and I am only 3 hours in!

i did a main mission than i would do a job board mission then a race then some side quests then play cards and gamble then main mission rinse and repeat..game was really fun that way. I personally love it and i cant wait for the DLC i plan on buying all of them

i dont think its 40% done, you still have 3 or 4 big main missions dungeons before you move over to the next town. also side missions are unlocked from the main quest line, so the more main missions you do the more side missions are unlocked. imo its probably more like 25% from where you're at.

that's a much better number... though in the end it will probably come down to how much side stuff I do, like cards, gambling, car racing and the online play

I just finished the game tonight after playing 34 hours. I explore a lot and love the races and mini-games. I did every mission and left no stone unturned, somehow I still missed 15 cards
