What STALKER game is best?

Post » Fri Oct 14, 2011 5:53 am

Hey everyone. I always see people making threads about the STALKER games, and there is always the majority vote for one of them, however I cannot remember what game it was. I am looking to get one, and I would like to get the one that everybody recommends.

Thanks :)

There's been three so far....unless they snuck one out while I wasn't looking.

Shadow Of Chenobyl
Clear Sky
Call Of Prypriat

COP was the best in my opinion. Less restrictive and more free roam than SOC and a hell of a lotl ess buggy than CS.

I was looking for the one that was free roam, Fallout-ish kinda feel, so it was COP that had the free roam aspects?

All of them allow you to free roam. Some areas are locked off until you progress storywise though.

That depends. SoC had a darker creepier atmosphere.

I tend to like CoP better as a game though.

Both are great games, but CS needs modding to help it.

People are probably referring to Call of Pripyat. Shadow of Chernobyl was a pretty new/experimental things, and some aspects worked better than others. Clear Sky made a lot of changes, some interesting, but also had some balance issues. Call of Pripyat attempts to take what worked from the first two and more solidly put them together, and has the "smoothest" gameplay experience. However, it often feels less threatening/immersive than the other two, and it has fewer areas to explore than the previous games, making it feel smaller. There are pros and cons to all of them, but Call of Pripyat usually wins polls for being the more complete experience, and Clear Sky is generally the least liked.
