Sad Game

I've been with ID since the first Doom and continued to love their games with the Quake series (Not Quake 4). I just got RAGE yesterday through a Bethesda employee accommodation for free. Frankly, I feel you owe me money for playing this game. The first thing I did was try the single player campaign. The graphics are okay but not great. The controls feel dated and bring nothing new to the table.

I only had to play this game about 20 minutes to realize the story svcks and I'm not quite sure I'll even waste another minute with the campaign...

After all of this I was still hoping the multiplayer aspect of RAGE would come through.... LOL!!! was I wrong.. where the hell is multiplayer???

For a company that basically pioneered the FPS genre... ALL I CAN SAY ABOUT RAGE IS: WHO ARE YOU CRAPPING?

Good job on svcking... keep it up!

How would they have innovated controls?

id must have felt that RAGE was not suited for deathmatch or it was just their decision to mix it up. Now Doom 4 on the other hand...

Good job on svcking... keep it up!

If you're an avid id fan then you'd understand that they aren't a story-centric developer. They make games that put fun gameplay over practically every other aspect. How can you form a reasonable opinion of the campaign if you only played 20 minutes? It's a game that allows the environment to tell a story through all the rich, minute details. I would say to go back and spend some more time with it and play it with the expectations of a traditional id game: light on story, fast-paced, violent gunplay, and visually interesting environments. Just have fun with it. Why, all of a sudden, is id required to integrate a complex plot into their games?
